Help LG GT540 Optimus 1.6 to 2.1 Problems

Hi Guys.
Im new to the site.
Recently got an LG GT540 on Android 1.6.
My phone is unbranded and unlocked but wont work with the LG Updater to update to
Android 2.1.
Can anyone help as i dont want to brick my phone but the words keep dissapearing from my user dictionary and i only use predictive text input.
LG UK are a waste of space as they only provide updates for branded LG GT540 Optimus phone.

The update is widthdrawn, it will available later again (hope so). This is what the Finnish LG told me. My telephone is operator-free and un-branded and it has a firmware version V10C.

Initially it was withdrawn but now its available for upgrade. Check online.

after installing the proper usb driver, lg update tool start updating, but in the middile it says that no update avail for this module. pl. help.i am using lg gt540 1.6 as o/s.
