LG Home Question

A few days ago I posted about my screen going crazy (http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-m/262351-screen-going-crazy-update.html) The Metro rep decided to go ahead and replace the phone without trying to really figure much out. I thought it was hardware since the things it was doing would tend to lend itself to that (screen acting crazy, extreme battery usage, overheating). Now I am not so sure that it wasn't LG Home acting up.

I understand what LG Home is and what it does, but don't know if it getting corrupt or something might have caused the screen to go wild like it did. Does anyone know enough about this program to know if this was the real cause of my problems? I say "WAS" because it is no longer happening. I did a factory refresh on the phone to make sure I was not going to be passing any private info to them. Since I do not get the new phone until Thursday, I want to at least get the most out of it that I can. I have installed a few apps and have been using it with no problems at all. I think LG Home might be the problem because it has crashed on me a few times while I was trying to re-sort/re-organize the list of all applications.

I am trying to decide if I want to try and keep this phone or if I should just go ahead and let them replace it. A new one is likely to be on 2.2.1. What to do...

I have been looking at that today. I like LauncherPro. I am trying to decide if it was really LG Home that caused my problems though. My wife did remind me of one important thing today. The day my phone overheated, it did get really hot and that might have had an effect on the overall life of the phone and battery. So, I am going to take my chance at getting 2.2.1 and get the new phone. I probably will not try rolling back to 2.2 because if I brick my phone then I am back to my Samsung Messager for a while. I hope z4root gets updated to include 2.2.1.

I purchased LauncherPro "Plus" simply cause I thought the developer did a great job. I hardly use any of the features you get when you buy it. But I am sure the free version works fine.

Unless you really dont plan to root then i guess go with 2.2.1. But if you plan on rooting, stick with 2.2.0(i guess).

I want the ability to root. I am not going to have a choice in OS version when I get the new phone. I have heard that most new ones have 2.2.1, but then again I am in small town SWFL, so they might still have older stock and I get lucky with 2.2. I do not feel very comfortable with either way to go back to 2.2 since I have seen posts of people really messing up their phones. If I get unlucky and end up with 2.2.1, I guess I will keep my fingers crossed that a way to root it will be found.
