Root LG Motion + Nexus 4 = Mini-Nexus

After a few days of work I am finally able to post this.

I looked at my phone with Nova Launcher installed and said to myself "Why can't this beastly phone look and feel like a Nexus, a "mini-Nexus"....

I mean look at the Nexus 4 and compare it to the LG Motion. Google Nexus 4 vs LG Motion 4G - Phone specs comparison

4.1/4.2 vs. 4.0 - they are almost the same minus a few feature which I easily flashed onto the Motion such as the 4.2 keyboard and Google Now. I suggest that if you are rooted then flashing the keyboard is much nicer than the apps! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33580648&postcount=129
http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...tall-google-now-in-easy-steps-w-pictures.html

4.7" vs 3.5" screen - I'm starting to see the 3.5" screen as small, I wish it was 4" (it really should of been! but hey) but this created the name I dubbed my "Mini-Nexus"

Snapdragon S4 PRO quad core 1.5ghz vs. Snapdragon S4 dual core 1.2/1.5 ghz - The Nexus 4 is fast - really fast, but the LG Motion is nearly as fast with its Snapdragon S4 chip and its e firmware is clocked at 1.5ghz like the N4

Project Butter vs. ...well..nothing..but I added Adrenaline Injection (and Nova Launcher for that matter) Nova Launcher on my Motion gives it a bit extra speed, but also the icon pack needed to mimic ICS/JB -- which is nice cause I hate the LG UI. But I flashed Adrenaline Rush from XDA and it does give a noticeable increase in the already speedy system. It's not PB but it's gotta be pretty close! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236779

Next up I debloated most of the crap on it because it sat there taking up room and memory for no reason. I saved some stuff like Sportacular Youtube and StreetView I think.

Finally I added in some basic apps that are optional. I added them in mostly because I liked the look and feel of them better than LG stock ones, plus they have few more features.

Holo Launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.locker

Camera JB+: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JseW54LmNhbWVyYWpicGx1cyJd

Camera JB+ has gallery in it compared to ICS Camera which only has Cam there is a separate gallery app. (sucks I bought an app that is meh and then find this awesome app  )

Results: I am running an awesome setup for my Motion that makes it look and feel like a Nexus but smaller screen. I will throw some pics up in a new post. If you try (or not if you judge this by reading) please let me know what you think

Request more pics, happy to post. Quadrant was about 5400, but it dips to 4850 sometimes and can't figure out why. Also if I missed something that should be added tell me I will work on it. BTW at this point Photosphere won't work with our phone because of the phones lack of something called a gyroscope. Also I seemed to be having some trouble with JB Camera so I might switch to ICS Camera -- it's the same thing same developer and everything it just doesn't have gallery (which ICS Gallery is the same thing) -- essentially it's same thing just 2 apps instead of one.

Yeah Motion is great except the small screen makes typing/editing documents more difficult.

Especially with the "crazy bouncing ball cursor".

BTW folks this "theme" is really nice to kind of help boost your motion speed, features, but using Nova to theme it to your liking is always a good idea. I simply wanted to add features and unleash more of the true power and beauty the Motion is capable of (i.e. ax the ugly LG skin bleeeeeech) I cannot thank the apps and developers here on AF (xda too!) enough for all the hard work they put into making things which in turn allowed me come up with my first post of all this stuff together.

I do this with all my devices, including my Acer Iconia A100 and ViewSonic gTab. Here is my setup for what I did for the Motion 4G:

  • Apex Launcher - I think this has a better stock look than Nova Launcher and Holo Launcher, especially the app drawer.

  • Jelly Bean Apex/Nova Theme (by Photox Designs) - I like this one because it has updated icons.

  • Google Now - This is kind of a pain since I had to do it manually, but I think it's worth it to have. It's fun to mess around with and useful when you need it.

  • Android 4.2 keyboard - There are some on Google Play, but I use the one that was leaked on Android Police a while back.

  • Nexus 4 Clock (by Chilis Apps) - There's a few apps on Google Play for the Nexus 4 clock widget, so I don't think it matters which one you get. I just happened to grab this one a while back because it used to be the ICS clock widget and was later updated to the Nexus 4 clock widget.

  • Wondershare Panorama (by Wondershare Software) / Photaf Panorama (by Oren Bengigi) - I wish these two camera apps were combined into one. Wondershare is more user-friendly, but Photaf has a 360 mode to emulate photosphere.

  • Nexus 4 Boot Animation - You have to be rooted to do this. I have the bootanimation.zip for anyone who wants it. It's pretty much the same one as the Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean boot animation.
