LG Nexus 5X Review Roundup

The LG Nexus 5X is not specced like a flagship, like the 4, 5 and 6 before it were and the 6P is now. That's a letdown - the Nexus 5 cost $350 in 2013 dollars, the 5X costs $380 in 2015 dollars. And the price outside the US is just ridiculously high.

The Nexus 5X definitely lacks the cool, pioneering spirit of the 2013 Nexus 5. Not that some people would mind the "boring" life of quality hardware and reliable software. Geeks and power users, however, will certainly get a bigger rise out of the 6P.

The Nexus 5X is a mostly-solid phone for the price you are paying. You get a really good camera, pure Android and quick updates, the best fingerprint scanner, and connectivity with the carrier you choose.

If you need a phone on the smaller side, don’t mind an all-plastic body, have faith in Google fixing performance issues, and don’t have a big budget, it could make you happy.

When it works, using the Nexus 5X is a lot of fun. If Google can reduce these failure points we've found in using the phone for the last week, the overall quality of this phone will be improved dramatically. If it feels like this gets said a lot about Nexus phones, that's because it does.

Google has delivered a lot of great things with this new Nexus duo, but it couldn't be more clear that the Nexus 5X is the lesser of the two. It's a mediocre experience with some amazing high points, and when you balance that out against a $379 price point you're getting what you pay for.

The Nexus 5X is a very, very good phone. The screen is only 1080p, but it's a good panel and is perfectly acceptable at this size. It performs well outside and inside, and the more modest resolution allows for good battery life.

The 16GB starting capacity is a disappointment for me, but I could see some people going for it if that extra $50 for the 32GB is a stretch.

The Nexus 5X is very much like its 2013 predecessor in that it delivers a lot of capability for a very competitive price point, and it manages to do so while still looking fairly sharp. But the 5X is no show horse.

It’s the phone you toss around without worrying about scratching it up; the one you buy because it’s a good deal, not because it’s delivering a premium experience.

The 5" Nexus is back! Following 2014's gargantuan Nexus 6, Google has finally decided to release a little something for the mainstream populace.

Joshua from Android Authority is finally able to give his full review of the Nexus 5X and has mixed feelings about the device. The biggest issue here was with performance and since that effects so many things like loading times and even typing, he just couldn't enjoy the time he had with the device.
