Root LG Optimus M Freezing computer

Okay so I have the LG Optimus M and I rooted it, and I have been messing with it for a while. Yesterday I was removing bloatware from it and I accidently let MetroBACKUP go before I backed up my contacts so I went to plug it into my laptop (Inspiron 1525 running Windows XP) And the screen on my laptop freezes. The phone charges fine, but the screen freezes until I unplug it then its working again fine. But I cannot use andyo's guide to putting my phone back to original state because I cant use it on a computer. I tried different usb plugs, I tried my sisters laptop which is running windows 7 and it doesnt freeze but it says that the device I plugged in is malfunctioned. Is there anyway I can fix this? I tried googling it but they get this on a different phone that has an app for verizon. Anyone else get this that can help me? thanks :]

Well the redundancy of Metro Backup is contacts are saved by Android anyway. Your Google Account syncs your contacts and calendar. You can also choose to have it sync your email and Picasa stuff.
