Help lg optimus m problem accessing market ect....

I bought a used lg optimus m that has been rooted 2.3.3 and says virgin mobile but is on metro pcs...the prob is the google account is in the old owners not mine so cant do a lot of things on it ....cant access market ect...was told could reset phone....to set up new google account ....could that cause problems? like loose contacts ,programs,internet,ect.....what are all my options.... if its a reset how do i do it ect....

I think you can just add a second Google account to the phone and then switch the default account. I have never done it, but I think I have heard of it being done.

I tried that and cant find any way to switch account...I tried clearing data in account ...but no luck ....surely some one knows how to do this....help!
