Root LG Revolution Root: The Windows ADB Way

Have you tried doing it the manual way from ADB? Scripts can be unreliable.

i was under this impression this was the manual way, but i solved the problem regardless: insert an active SIM and it works as it should. interesting that that is a requirement, but this thing is impossible to root when unactivated.

So long as you don't mind feeding my wife and toddler as well!

I'm a stay-at-home mom with a baby, so my husband would be footing the bill. He's listened to me bitch about the Bing situation so much, at this point I doubt he'd mind. Your wife probably knows a trustworthy sitter. :p

yeah i've tried restarting from the top over and over and still getting the same error

and im internet mode

edit: nvm got it not sure what i did different but i got it this time

I have been experiencing this exact same issue. When I go into the shell I get the $ and not the #. I tried restarting from the top of the instructions, but unfortunately it still does not work.

thoughts?

Edit: Just to clarify, this is what I am getting: C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb shell
$ su
su
su: permission denied

When I try the adb usb and then adb root, it says that adb can't run as root in production version

Stetsonaw, I appreciate all of you help.
I'm up to doing it for the 6th time today. I'm going to re-download rage and su and try again for the last time before I go to the one click and see if that works.

And finally it works. Don't know why or how. but it does. Thanks!!! now on to recovery!!

Lucky you, Ufkal. I've tried probably more than 10 times and still could not get past the $ the problem (kept getting permission denied when entering "su"). I also saw several postings of the same problem with no further help. Any suggestion, please !

If you got the update, right now it's next to impossible to root.

well, my LG Rev version is 2.2.2 which according to some threads was able to be rooted. But yeah, this version was pushed down by Verizon a while back. Are you saying 2.2.2 is impossible to root for now? Thanks!

Ok I get to the adb shell part and I get the $ and I've tried that su and it said like permission denied so I did the other things and I was still connected when I did adb devices when I typed in the command with the mount and rebound it said mount is not something(forgot what it said) as an internal is external command ivtried reatarting d everything and my phone ia on interbet connection and ia in usb debigging so pkease any suggestions? Thanks

if you guys still need a way to root then use this link, its easy and only a few clicks, also it installs cwm and lotsa awesome recovery options.this is the best tool there is for this phone.it will even root froyo 2.2.2 (v6) and the new gingerbread(v7). old method of rooting v6 was to flash it to v4 but that is a nasty process.this tool will do it all very smooth and easy.i hope this helps.

does anyone know how to flash the stock rom and reinstall it?i accidentally disabled my home screen and now i need help getting it back

Hey guys. I am new to rooting. I have what may be a silly question. When you say "make sure you have your 4G activated" does that mean I have to have a 4G connection at the time? Or does it just mean make sure I haven't somehow disabled it in the settings? If I live in a place where I don't get 4G connection, can I still root without problems?

Guys, complete newby here. I have been researching rooting my phone since I bought it over a year ago. Well, today I had a little free time so thought I would go for it. I have the phone on de-bug, its on internet connection, but can not get the prompt to work... have tried many times!! Can someone give me a boost?

I am attempting to root a used LG VS910 Revolution which I recently acquired, mainly as an experimentation exercise and introduction for me to rooting and learning more about the Android system.

Are the links in the article to the RATC binary and the SU binary still valid as I cannot locate them. The links just take me to what looks like a front page and not directly to the files.
