Help LG Shine Plus not downloading apps any more

When we first got the phones back in Jan/11, they took an update. We have been able to download apps with the current firmware installed in the past, I really don't see how that could be an issue now. I'll probably make a call to the boobs at LG and see what they have to say. Telus was useless (surprise surprise right).

This LG PC Suite will back up my phone so if I do try newer firmware and it doesn't work out, I can always go back to what I have now right?

I'll check back in when I wake up before I try it. Thanks for the heads up MisterPuzzler.

LG with stock v10d is notorious for having download errors. I had them myself and the only way I could get rid of them without spending hours on end figuring out why was to factory reset the phone. I'm guessing it has to do with data corruption on the Android Market.

As for v20a (Latest Gingerbread upgrade) as others have mentionned, it's been HELL. So updating is not really worth while.

Also, keep in mind that if you download an application that is too big for your cache, the phone will give a download error. So if you're downloading a 30 meg application and cache is already filled up, it'll give an error... Clearing the /cache partition would also help, but keep in mind this is lower level stuff and you need root and a file manager.

OK, so was going to update, but the warning about never being able to revert back to an older firmware scared me off. I don't want to be stuck with an even worse phone than I already have.

I'll have to write down all my contacts manually before I factory reset though. Not looking forward to having to re-enter all my wifi passwords.

I'll let ya's know how it turns out when I get a chance to do it.

So I went ahead and updated:

Firmaware:
Old: 2.1-update 1
New: 2.1-update 1

Software:
Old: LG-C710h-V10c
New: LG-C710h-V10d

That did nothing, so I did the factory reset. The factory reset worked so I can now download and install apps again.

Thankfully, LG PC Suite backed up my contacts so it was easy to re-sync them to my phone from my PC.

LG App Advisor will not download from LG, it tells me I have a connection problem. Hopefully it's not a needed app, I know little about this stuff really.

Thanks for the help and suggestions guys.

LG App Advisor is just LG's poor implementation of a market app... It's completely useless to be honest, so I wouldn't worry about that. ;)

And 2.3.3 isn't available anymore as was mentionned earlier, it had too many issues... I'm keeping close tabs on the new bug fix release though, so once that's out I'll be posting it in the forums here.

Glad you got things running again! And the upgrade from v10c to v10d is useful to you if you decide to go out of the country with your phone. It was a simple roaming fix they applied and is the latest "Stable" version, so you're better off with this version. ;)

If you have any other issues, don't hesitate to post in the forums! Some of us are still lurking about trying to help out when we can. :)
