LG Spectrum ICS Update Bugs/Issues Thread

One ICS peeve (for now) is that, whenever I plug something into the headphone jack, it automatically turns down the volume ("to protect my hearing").

First of all, Google gets the "One-Finger-Salute" for trying to be my f-ing nanny! I'm an adult for f-sake (pushing 50 at that!)! I think I can figure out how to turn the volume down on my own - if I want.

Anyway, this really pisses me off because 9 out of 10 times, I'm plugging it into my car radio and the audio output from the Spectrum is weak, even at full volume, in comparison to the radio & cd inputs.

I noticed that too. Irritating to say the least. I have found that the volume under ICS really does suck. I've tried a couple of volume booster apps, but nothing really does the trick. Hopefully one of our devs can fix that.

I don't like the fact that ring tone and notification tone volume can't be controlled by the same slider, as in the past. Also, can't get a Sound control widget, as with my last version, whatever it was.

I have not noticed the problem with volume going down. I would imagine it to be a feature.

One thing FWIW: I use MixZing Basic to listen to music and watch videos. There is an equalizer built into it, and it does work. You can emphasize the various channels, not just attenuate.

I use Subsonic for the same reason. The EQ helps (at least a bit). I've encountered the volume protection message. Not sure how to fix it. Might dig into a few jars and apks and see what's what.

So you can get an eq app to work? I tried a few and keep getting errors that the rom doesn't support an eq. I can only seem to use eqsif they're built into a player like Sense or Winamp... Standalone won't work.

I can't say "work" is the right word. There were no FCs, but also no difference. Ones built into apps seem to affect audio quality, but standalone ones seem to do nothing.

I'm on IcyFusion again and I'm having the same thing. Very low audio in everything.

That's odd because I used to get reboots all the time and haven't had a single one since the upgrade.

Are you using adw launcher? There's a known issue with that app and this device that existed on the gb stock and also the upgrade.

I haven't had a single reboot either on v7. Not for lack of trying. ;)

The only issue I'm experiencing is the low volume.

Here's a new one. I grabbed my phone while it was connected to the charger this morning, to reply to a text. Heck no. The "keyboard" would not cooperate. I've never noticed this before....not that I type many texts while the charger is plugged in, but it was certainly not working properly.

No random reboots for me, first time ever.

I am having a new problem though, of I let Facebook merge connects, the phone app crashes with an error that contacts crashed.

Only fix is to clear data on contacts and contact storage, then I can make a call of I am fast enough, before it downloads all my contacts again, or I have to turn off Facebook contact syncing.

Not sure of I am hitting a maximum number of contacts for the LG contact app?

Is that with the stock keyboard or an add on ? I've texted a lot while charging with no problems, using SwiftKey 3.

Stock messaging. I'd hit a key, and it would hesitate, then pop up several letters that I did not hit. I unplugged and it went back to normal.

*Just went and experimented. It's not just the messaging keyboard, it's everything. Not sure if it's the touchscreen or what. But it's very hard to do anything while it's plugged in. Even just trying to tap on an app to open it, it will open an app two rows over!

TBK: Memory Jogger... Yeah I experienced a little freaky behavior when I had my phone plugged in and it had been at 100% for a while, like maybe an over-voltage situation? As soon as I unplugged, everything was good. This was while I was on GB and it's only happened once.

I have had an issue with a charger before the ICS update. It was my friends charger so I'm not sure of the brand but my phone went all wacky. I thought it was my phone and actually did a factory reset. After doing that my friend piped up and said "Yeah, that charger messes my phone up, too." Weellll thanks Ed! However he has a Droid Bionic and was running GB then too.

On another note, I have had an issue with LG keyboard but in only one situation. When a text pops up, I can reply and type fine up til the end of the of 160 count. after that it will not type. If I open up into the message dialog, it works fine. It only does that when it's the popup. Doesn't matter if on the charger or not, the problem is persistent regardless.

Same here, but I've also had that issue with the swype keyboard as well.

This may or may not be relevant but I have my spectrum running a custom Rom and it just got the push for ice cream sandwich..do I have to UN root to get the update or will it still work

UPDATE: found a solution right after posting this: https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/786282

Having a problem w/ the stock email client - I have to connect to an exchange server for a work email. Always worked fine before, but after ics update the client appears to be functioning fine but the list of emails in any folder (like, say the INBOX) is just blank. I've seen other forums for other brands where this happened post-ICS and what fixed it was fiddling the font settings from w/in the app, but the Spectrum/Verizon version doesn't have an in-app font settings. I tried changing the system font to no effect - likewise various combinations of reboots and also wiping and re-adding the account. Any suggestions or ideas much appreciated.
