LG Spectrum ICS Update Bugs/Issues Thread

Anyone make progress with wifi tethering on LG Spec? I tried to use wifi tether app, and its says that wifi tethering is running, but when i checked with my laptop, i cant find my lg Spec wifi. :(

is there any way to get the bluetooth to "auto" sync/connect to my ford's bluetooth? It used to before the upgrade to ics, not i have to do it manually. I can't seem to find anything to check off.

I cannot get Bluetooth to start up. It is killing my battery. I read I may need to "flash the OS with the .cab method". If this is accurate can someone lead me to the directions? Thank you.

Edit: I did get the Bluetooth to turn on but it has not paired with anything since root performed.

Flashing LG signed Firmware - LG Spectrum - RootzWiki

You will lose root and lock your bootloader, but this will bring you back to pure ICS stock.

If you unlocked the bootloader, thats what killed your bluetooth. If you use the .cab method to go back to stock, you can root your phone, you just can't unlock the bootloader.

All I did was run root a few times until root finally worked. I have no idea if I unlocked the bootloader or how to unlock it. Thanks for your help.

Then this is the challenge with my bluetooth problem? I need root. Any ideas how to get BT back with root?
Yea, flash cm10. It has fixed Bluetooth and root. Otherwise just run the ICS root programs, NOT the pwnage tool.

I had to clear everything in my truck and re-install the device and now I have blue tooth in my truck again.

My only issue since doing the update is I keep getting this pop up message every time I goto charge my phone, "charging wallpaper needs to be closed". I have not downloaded any charging wallpower. only way to get it to stop appearing is by going to settings, running apps and stopping the "charging wallpaper" app that is there. again I haven't downloaded this, it appeared after the ics update.

Charging wallpaper is an app that is part of stock. Freeze it, or run a fix permissions on it to fix that issue.

Just wanted to thank you for your help but after looking at "flashing CM10" it is an intimidating task to me. You are correct MrB206, I did use the pwnage tool.

Is there another tool that just roots? Installing ROM's seems like a lot of work not to mention confusing.

Thanks again

I believe so. I'll have to check what it's called, but I was rooted well before the pwnage tool came out. Scroll he forum for ics root... It was known before we got the update.

FWIW here's my ICS story.

I had ICS for just a few days when my phone was stolen in Nov. So bought a new Spec and kept delaying update until it finally updated on it's own without my permission--about 2 weeks ago. My issues with ICS: bad battery life, even after checking on all apps running; contacts backup changed to back up asst rather than google; apps start working randomly when not accessed killing battery; ics update wiped calendar clean of everything; sync between everything google and phone would not work, have corrected everything individually taking way more time than needed; some installed apps' data was deleted; no tether; cannot use with my company web interface--have to go back to old method I used with Blackberry 6 years ago. The only good is browsing, texting and wifi connections are better.

Wouldn't mind purchasing another extended battery but I'm not confident that this will fix the battery problems. Just tried to update with the V8 included on another thread but Spec wouldn't read the update. Trying to be patient to see if anything new comes out to possibly patch these issues rather than trying to go back to GB and root. Seems crazy to go backward but that might be my only option. Kinda like my netbook keeping XP on it. LOL.

You could unlock your bootloader and try CM10.1. It's supposed to be really smooth and you wouldn't have to worry about all the manufacturer crap from stock ICS. Or, if you want to stick with something stock-based, Icy Fusion is pretty dang smooth and includes my kernel. And, not to be cocky or anything, my kernel is pretty dang awesome.

EDIT: Here's a link to the bootloader unlocker.

How do i freeze this or run a fix permission? This thing drives me nuts when I goto charge the phone. I can't find hte actual app on the phone except in settings -> apps->running and click on the wallpaper app. when the thing pops up.

Othen then this issue, the ICS has been a huge upgrade except for the last week where texting/typing is becomming an issue again with lagging in key response and the back button.

Go to settings > apps > all, should be an option to disable it. Think there was also an option to turn it off somewhere in settings but don't remember exactly where, has been a while since I was on ICS :-P

The only time i can disable it is when i plug the phone in and the message pops up, when I clear the message the wallpaper icon disappears in the alla apps section.

I just got a Spectrum and it was preinstalled with the ics update (v8). I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing a 7-10% battery drain when rebooting/ restarting the phone. Also, when I turn off the phone, it stays on the "Verizon 4g LTE" for a while before shutting down. Is that suppose to happen?

CM10.1.0 seemed pretty snappy after using the CM tweaked kernel and V6 super charger.

I didn't stay on it long, as I have to stay on 4.1.2 until someone can make an app that will work with 4.2+ for screen recording :( if you don't mind staying on 4.1.2 I can say the CM10 and AOKP41 that TDM made work awesome and have decent battery life.
