Root LG Tribute root

is there anyway to root with a mac

Only if you have Windows installed in its own partition, or running Windows in a virtual machine setup. There's nothing for the Mac OSX or phone only root. You'll have to be cool with someone that owns a Windows PC. :)

Once again, WINDOWS PC REQUIRED FOR ROOT! Native installation recommended for best results. No Mac/Linux/BSD/phone roots. Thanks! :)

As far as roms... Some folks over at xda-developers.com are working at making a CM12 Lollipop based rom. Last time I checked, it's running as a beta. It's not yet good enough for daily use, so most people should avoid it for now, unless you have a spare phone for testing.

Regarding TWRP... I've learned to use it myself. I found a very good guide here:

I'll put this link up in the front of this post ASAP.

You'll have to try the twrp boot loop fix listed in this thread. Then reroot using the one click method. Make sure you have the recovery_bumped.img on your external SD card once rooted. Install that using the flashify app. Good luck! :)
Im new to rooting i rooted my lg tribute but i jave no idea what to do next the main reason i rooted was to fix the sd card issue how do i set everythin

It appears that a developer named Unjustified Dev posting in the XDA forums has gotten root for this phone, and its variants. UD got it running with a MetroPCS phone. EDIT: this now points to the one click method.

WINDOWS COMPUTER REQUIRED TO PERFORM ROOT!

WiNE (or any emulator/system call overlay) in Linux/BSD/Mac will not work! Running a virtual machine for those OS's and Macs may work, but I suggest using a PC running Windows natively for best results.

This is the page where Unjustified Dev says he rooted it (post #375)

Also have a working TWRP here (post #492). Look for recovery_bumped.img and download that to the external SD card. You may flash it with the Flashify app from Google Play.

This definitely works if it's followed to the letter.

Here's an excellent guide on how to use TWRP recovery.

CM12 works all right, but the camera crashes. Based on what I've read on XDA, I'm guessing it's some library files that are incompatible with the Tribute's cameras. I'm sure nearly every Tribute owner wants a working camera app.

In a nutshell, okay to have this if you absolutely don't need the camera. Just sayin' ;)

(I still hold high praise to UD for creating the ROM though!)

Really, you don't use the camera? Fair enough. Any advantages to using CM12 on the Tribute, aside from it being debloated compared to stock?
