I've noticed about 10 dead pixels on mine, just got it yesterday. Ran pixel fixers and those didn't work, so going to exchange this Volt for another today.
Edit: Replaced with another Volt, got fewer dead pixels but there's still one obvious one near the bottom of the screen. Wondering if I should exchange again...

Are they pixles, or do they seem smaller? When I first got my volt and poured over it daily to make sure things all worked I used a digitizer black test screen to hunt dead pixles. What I found is I had a couple of white specs. The problem is they were tiny, smaller then pixles and maybe even smaller then sub pixles. It is almost as if they were gaps between subpixles. I ended up keeping the phone because it was impossible to see it on anything but a black screen and even then only 1 stood out.

my phone has no dead pixels either. I do have light leakage at the top right corner of the screen though. Only visible when i boot it up. I fugured it was notrmal because every phone i have ever had had it.
The day I bought my boost mobile LG Volt, with the recent porting $100 off sale through radio shack, I found one fairly obvious dead pixel. It's about an index finger width distance to the right of the center of the screen. Slightly towards the top.
I've thought of returning the phone so I'm not stranded with a $200 screenless phone.
Another sign of a failing screen was the screen flickering, and the dimmer the backlight setting, the worse the screen flicker.
I've been concerned with this problem, (for the 11 days I've owned the phone) and even more now that I read other people have had the same issue with brand new LG Volts, exchanged them, and had the issue again?
Ridiculous, when did they adopt this business model.
I didn't expect this from LG, being a reputable electronics company and known for exceptional quality everything electronic. This phone isn't a budget, low-cost, low-end device, it's a Galaxy S3 priced, feature packed power house. So why are they pumping out phones rigged to fail from the box?
This story, so far, is sounding more akin with issues arising from knock-off phones from Chinese vendors, than a major U.S. electronics supplier. Not that I have a problem with those awesome deals from China, but everyone should know you get what you pay for in a phone. Which brings me back to my point, LG is not a company I expect to sell faulty electronics, then replace it with another doomed phone.

Same here... I've actually never had any dead pixels on any device ever. I must have some anti broken screen aura or something.

On low brightness my volts screen flickers is that normal?

Ahh okay I wonder if that is connected to my problem where the touchscreen only works when I'm holding the phone...
Sucks though because I have my phone setup exactly how I want it with root and everything.

Yeah...definitely shouldn't have rooted it if you were having issues. Remove Superuser, do a factory reset, and hope no one noticed when you trade it in.

Except for the fact that there's a log that doesn't get wiped in a factory reset that will tell if the phone has ever been rooted.

ive never heard of a log like that, any idea where it is and if we can look at it?

I don't think RadioShack is smart enough to notice
There are a few post about the dreaded root log you can search for. What is difficult is when it detects a root account has been made, it changes a hex key in the log as well as logs what actions root has taken. If you do not know what the hex key originally says then it won't matter if you change or delete it. You need to read and copy the info before rooting. Uploading a new rom should negate this.
This won't be something the sales reps will or can look for by thumbing through the phone, it is if they hook it up via usb to a device that scans this log that they will get a report on if it was rooted.
