Help LGP500 won't go into mass storage mode

I am trying to do the update on my lgp500 phone. I update to the uk version of android 2.3.3, and it's now out in canada via the Telus site. WHen I try to sync my phone to the pc, it's won't go into mass storage mode. Even when I put it in to that mode manually, my computer won't detect it, nor can it be found by lg pc suite.

Is there a way to fix this?
