Root Liberty 1.0 issues

PGood

Newbie
I just installed Liberty 1.0. I like most things about it but I need some help on a few things.

1. I had contacts that are now missing. Also I had groups set up in contacts and they are gone as well.

2. My text messages only show 1/14 as the most recent. Why would that be?

3. Email GUI is sub par.

4. Dialer is sub par

I also tried to update to 1.5 but when I go to the download links, it says that the content is not supported on this phone. Did I lose something?

Thanks in advance

1. If you have contacts missing, it's because they were stored locally on your phone and not synced. Go to your Gmail account, and look at your contacts. Are the missing ones there? Probably not.

2. Not sure. How did you back up your text messages?

3. Email GUI is because you were using the Motorola "Blur" email client, and now you're not.

4. Dialer GUI is because you were using the Motorola "Blur" dialer, and now you're not.

If you like the email client and the dialer, you might be better off with a ROM like ApeX that keeps a lot of the blur in there. Part of the purpose of Liberty was to strip a lot of that out.

Thanks. Now if I wanted to get rid of the ROM, would it go back to the way I had it before, like a Restore on PC?

If you used Clockwork Recovery to back up your phone before you installed the ROM, you can use that backup and restore it to go right back to the way you were before.

If you did not use Clockwork Recovery to back up your old setup, you will have to either use the SBF file, or - more easily - use the maderstock update file:

maderstcok - OTA 2.3.340 update.zip

You will have to re-root after that but it will put you back to the way you got your phone from the factory. You will have to re-install apps or restore apps/settings using something like Titanium Backup.

I did use CLockwork recovery. Do I select Bootstrap or Reboot recovery? Sorry for all the N00b questions. Just dont want to FUBAR things up.

So, before you installed Liberty, you used Clockwork Recovery and selected "Backup"?

If so, go into the Droid X Bootstrapper app, and you should be able to just hit Reboot Recovery, though it wouldn't hurt to hit "Bootstrap" first to make sure the bootstrap is installed. So hit Bootstrap first, wait for "Success", then hit Reboot Recovery. Then when Clockwork comes up, you can scroll to restore, and select the backup file you made.
