Help Life after CL14

So I updated my moment using the sprint update tool and now I only have 217 total available system memory instead of 275 i used to have before update

so what happened to the system memory?

does the update takes almost 60 mb of precious memory? or is there something wrong with my phone?

I'm talking before update my sys memory was like 275 can remember exactly i have about 75 mb worth of apps installed so my residual was somewhere between 196 to 200 with cach build up

now i have 217 mb system memory with 72 mb worth of apps installed and i have 145 mb left to use

My wife just picked up a Moment today and I made sure it had CL14 on it, because the guy said he didn't know, all depends when they are manufactured even though they just got the shipment yesterday or today. Wife wanted to get one yesterday but all the Sprint stores in the area where out of them.

I have still not had any issues with mine since the upgrade. Only froze once, and I have to manually connect my BT, but I can deal with that. Better then the battery life issues it was having.

To all those having problems after flashing a new kernel to the phone. Try doing a data reset (hard reset) after the flash. I did this out of habit after my long WM experience. With WM, especially the Touch Pro a second hard reset after a flash prevented a whole host of problems. I don't know if it helps, but it can't hurt.

did CL14 on the web and it kept locking up....screen would be black and I could not wake it no matter what I did...would not ring with phone call nothing...just dead. Held down power button..nothing....had to pull the battery to reset it. It kept doing this, so I took it to the sprint store and let them do the update again. Same problem. Trying to pull out the memory card..I have an aftermarket 16 gb....already removed all apps...so can't figure out what the heck it didn't do this before the update!

We went to a Sprint store and let them do the upgrade. After they bricked our 1 month old phone we got a brand new one with the update already on it. So far the battery life is amazing!!! Before, the battery would be down to 70% a half hour after pulled off the charger, and ready to die after 4 hours of light use. Today my wife played with it 4 hours straight, setting it back up and installing her old apps and stuff and it still had 50% battery. She hasn't complained of any lockups so far, but it's still the first day.

Have had the update for more than a week now, first impressions where great! Battery lasted much longer at first, GPS located me and didn't show me somewhere in Germany or west Africa like before lol.

Now that I have had it for a while though. . . . . Battery seems quirky as hell! One day after an 8 hour day of work I had like 60% power left, other days my phone is COMPLETELY dead (it won't even turn on dead) after 5 hours. I wonder why that is

I have had other issues too like not connecting calls and locking up. That happens at random still.

Over all I still love my moment though. . . . .

Before the update:
1) My GPS was HORRIBLE! I started turning on my Wi-Fi before I was going to use any GPS apps (hardly ever) and that made a HUGE difference with GPS based programs locating me. This "work-around" worked just fine for me.
2) Keyboard DEFINITELY lagged..
3) Battery life was pretty crappy but I could live with it. (it would be at 15% when I plugged in after 1 day of decently heavy usage.
4) Touch screen response was pretty slow
5) Besides these issues, the phone was pretty "solid" and worked pretty well.

After the update:
1) My AGPS locates me MUCH faster now. I don't have to turn my Wi-Fi on anymore, but sometimes it is not as accurate of a locate as when I would tur my Wi-Fi on. Overall, I guess I am happy with this fix.
2) VERY happy with the fix of the keyboard lag! Totally gone!
3) VERY happy with the new battery life. I can use my phone all day and my battery shows hardly any decrease. (BTW, the actual battery percentage is now gone under the "settings/ about phone, etc" screen. I guess I have to download a battery meter app from the Market now?
4) Touch screen response is much better, and the phone does feel snappier.
5) So why am I not so happy then?
a) I use Bluetooth a LOT, and I am now having problems connecting the phone to my truck's hands free or my Samsung earbud about 75% of the time now. I don't know WTH this update did to my BT, but the "connection" process SUCKS now! Definitely an issue. I have to go into the BT settings and "make phone discoverable" about 3 out of 5 times that I turn on my truck or turn on my earbud.
b) The phone has frozen up on me THRE times since I updated 3 days ago! First time, I was on a call and needed the dialpad, so I took the phone away from my face and nothing... Nothing at all would come up on the screen after several (patient) attempts..
Second time, it would not connect a call. I tried to hang it up, and it would not hang up either. Just froze. I had to take the battery out..

I never had these kinds of "freezes" before CL14.
If I had to say, I would say that the benefits were worth it, but the major difference is that previous to CL14, I never wanted to throw my phone at the wall. The 2 issues I mentioned above have made me want to do that a few times now.
I'd call that a toss-up then I guess. I just need to focus on the positive and really enjoy my great battery life, and fast keyboard, and fast GPS lock I guess..

I thought I should give an update that my phone has not locked up at all since my post above, and my BT is connecting flawlessly on my truck's hands free and my Samsung BT earbud as well now..
Weird.. but I'm not complaining..

i never had this problem before the update but now after the update, whenever my phone gets below 15% in battery life, i get random restarts. i thought pandahome was causing this so i uninstalled it but i still have this problem. anybody else getting this?

Edp it sounds like you might have another app woriking or you need to reflash your firmware! Happens from time to time! Lil glitches!

nope its not cuz of the firmware. i had this problem waaaay before the update with stock cj05. im getting data connection issues after the cl14 update. im starting to think this phone is just full of glitches and bugs and will never be fixed until they release the 2.1 update. it was a terrible idea to release this phone with known glitches and crappy android 1.5 that was never intended for sprints cdma/evdo network.

Since my original update it seems the phone has settled down. No more lockups so that's good. One problem I do keep seeing is when I put my phone down I hit the "end" button to put the screen to sleep immediately. Some times the screen comes back on and off several times before it actually blanks for good. I didn't see this until after the CL14 update. I've reloaded the same Apps since updating so not sure if this is the CL14 update that may be causing this or one of my App settings.

Doing the hard reset after updating sounds like a good idea. I've never paid attention how to do that so will look into that for the next update.

I'm still on CL05, and mine does that. A minor annoyance, as the screen goes out by itself after a short time. Since I don

Just did the cl14 on my moment and my wife's last night, i had the sprint store do it while i was running around doing stuff, they ended up doing the home update version since they were having issues with their equipment, when i first got the phones back nothing would download from the market place, a soft reset fixed this, i did a hard reset on both phones then restored them using mybackup, most of my apps came back, a few were missing and none of the widgets worked, they just needed to be put on again, most of my settings came back but i did have to set a few back to the way they were. Another weird quirk was after doing the mybackup restore some of my contacts were duplicated, this was easily fixed by going into Gmail on my PC going to contacts and selecting "find duplicates" then "merge". Overall the phones seem to be working good, GPS is GREAT now, no lockups so far, however some how i have managed to pocket dial a few people, even with the security swipe set. I have no idea how that happened. I will definatly be doing myback again when we finally get 2.1
