Limit Background Processes

In "Developer Mode" All the way at the bottom under "Apps".. There is a tab tht says "Limit Background Processes"...

I'm not sure if I stumbled upon a gold mine here, but I think this is the answer to all questions tht have been asked abt background apps slowing down your phone and instead of doing a whole lot of deleting, freezing, force close, this and that...... I think this tab is where it's at....

Check it out... and if I have found the solution then let me kno....

(Since I checked "NO Process in the background".. my Note 3 has been blazing fast)

If you feel that your phone is slowing down after installing an application then you need to find an alternative application that does the same thing which is optimised for the phone.

You can also buy the versions of applications which don't have advertisements embedded in them as they will definitely slow your phone down.

The option you picked there destroys multi tasking, but might work for you if you don't need multi tasking.

Do you think there are applications that you have installed which are slowing down your phone? The names of some of them.

Not me... I keep.. Or try to keep my phone as clean and speedy as possible, but this can be for those apps thts constantly draining battery and re fresh ing them selves like facebook and youtube..

And yea.. Not so much multitasking this way..... Although i need to take advantage

I disabled Facebook a long time ago and use Friendcaster Pro for Facebook Browsing now. Youtube doesn't refresh itself but there are notifications that it sends you from time to time if you don't uncheck/untick the option in the General section of the youtube applications settings which is labelled "receive notifications".

Although nothing I've ever witnessed can compare to the battery drain in the video below. 30% in one hour without doing anything but showing "What's on my iPhone", very sad to be honest, unless someone doesn't wanna leave their house and sits at home with the phone on the charger all day.

Look at the time of the iPhone as the video plays and the battery percentage by the time :O

1:48 PM 84%
1:54 PM 79%
2:17 PM 72%
2:18 PM 70%
2:24 PM 65%
2:31 PM 63%
2:38 PM 59%
2:40 PM 58%
2:48 PM 52%

What's on my iPhone

Wow! Thts terrible.... Must suck to be a iphone wall hugger....

Although i'm not doing the correct "battery drainage and charge"... I still get a full day of battery. . (with heavy usage)

although i would love to see the s5 battery saver on this note...

I just kno since i pressed "no background processes" my battery stats been alot lower and phone been faster........

Plus i am not rooted...... Yet........ Maybe

Limiting Background Apps to none is so hilariously bad that it isn't even funny, and makes the phones 3GB RAM worth about as much as 512MB.

What you did is a waste of power (constantly JITing applications that would otherwise be cached in RAM) and completely cripples the phone as a productivity device.

Usage Measurements are too subjective so no one but you can know what Heavy Usage actually is or means to you.

If it works for you, great.

I don't recommend anyone does this on their phone.

The iPhone 5S I had got through the day without breaking a sweat. iOS tombstones most apps, like Windows Phone, but at least they save their state.

What you're doing is just killing them off as if you went to Task Manager and pressed "End Task."

Apologies for off-topic, but "battery drainage and charge"? If you mean "run it down before charging" that's NiCd batteries, not Li-ion. The best way to maintain longevity of a lithium rechargeable is not to regularly run it too low before charging.

Ok, back on topic now. Personally I do multitask, so I prefer the traditional alternative of identifying apps which misbehave and replacing these with alternatives. But if it works for you then that's what matters.

Indeed as I said in a previous post which was deleted I would be happy to go through a list of applications on your phone that might potentially harm the "optimum usage" ability of your device ;)

I have only used Android Tuner to monitor application CPU usage and other activities which is free in the Google Play store.

Greetings ;)

I guess my gold turned out to be bag of coal then :(

i appreciate it guys.. I really thought i found something............. But why would they put it there if it's gonna mess with the power of the note?

Forgive me guys.. I came frm a "lg esteem" to the "note 3".... And all these settings and functions is blowing my mind....

I would love to have it :) I would have that coal slippery smooth in no time, but then you would want it back ;)

I use this dev option a lot on older or lower spec devices. For example, chromecast a Google movie from my Tab 3 7.0 and it will stop and rebuffer every second or two. Go to dev options and reduce to one background process at most and try it again, now it is streaming in HD, even over my slow 3G Internet connection.

It also does help reduce the frequency of rebooting my Note 3, but I have it set to three. As with any developer option, advise caution, as they're intended for more experienced Android users. With my N3, it is set to three to avoid app over sync, or more commonly, Internet data use and overuse of cpu cycles causing the phone to run hot or lose sync with my watch. My weather on the G Watch refused to update, and voice commands timed out until I reduced the processes to three. Google apps being resource hogs needed to be limited in their background actions if I needed them but not their constant attempts at pinging home to Google. It isn't the same problem as is using Advanced Task Killer, which often kills everything, which starts back up, kills everything again, so on and so forth. Limiting background tasks reduces the amount of services which run in the background, allowing more RAM to be set aside for programs you would use more often or programs in the foreground, also reducing in game lag for larger games. It is a non root method of greenify if anything. Harmless.
