I have been having a problem with the phone lately. All of a sudden it would go into limited service and it Wong reconnect until it restarts...

Anyone got any ideas? I have a feeling that the phone software is messed up

Anyway my phone is default factory without any changes

Have you tried taking the 3g setting off and just having it as 2g. I read on the XDA forum that one of the problems with HTC phones is that they are not very good at seamless switching from 2g to 3g and often can't find 2g after having 3g (and so where 3g is weak, 2g doesn't kick in instead and so you get left with a weak signal). I've switched mine and it's good now (wireless and networks, mobile networks, network mode - set to gsm only instead of gsm/wcdma auto) Let me know if it works for you - did for me. Data will be slower on this, so just switch back when you want to use the internet services.

I am trying that right now... but it seems that HTC is not very good at finding a network after it loses it. For example, I get out of the elevator and then it would show no service.. and that would last for a very long time unless I switch on airplane mode and off again (or restart)...

But the other odd thing is, the phone doesn't necessarily have bad connection before it shows limited or no service...

is your's completely fixed?

Now I don't have this problem. But I have another question.

What do I need to do, for my phone to show me the "GSM only" option xD. Mine is a stock DHD (ofc with apps, and so on, but no changes to the OS and network systems), with Froyo 2.2, but I only have two options there, either "GSM/WCDMA auto" or "WCDMA only"

Anyone that knows? Because at some points I do actually wanna try and limit the service (for battery efficiency) by force.

PS! Maybe I just get "GSM" if I cut mobile network communcations with the network control widget, hmmm =S

well the GSM option didnt work for me (it still loses connection)

So I ended up rooting the phone and changing the baseband.. since I think that was the problem...

Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem.. then I installed a different kernel... which HELPED... so far it loses connection only like once a day, whereas before it loses it every 20 minutes...

So now I don't have the original HTC kernel... sigh.... I didnt want to root the phone too
