I am running a Droid x on GummyJar 2.5, oc at 1.25GHz. I am trying to install the Linear theme and I followed the directions exactly but when I reboot, it just gets stuck on the "M" screen. Any suggestions?

pulling the battery works and brings me back to clockworkMod recovery, but rebooting the phone just sits me on the "M" screen again. Can I just bypass ClockworkMod recovery somehow?

When in Clockwork, try clearing cache only then rebooting. If that doesnt work, you may have to wipe date from within Clockwork.
Hopefully, clearing your cache does the trick.
One more thing assuming you made a backup before applying the theme. If clearing cache doesnt work, I would just restore my back up and try again.

Clearing cache and data did not work. I dont think i can restore my backup because i'm stuck in clockwork, everytime i try to reboot it sticks me on the "M" screen no matter what i'm trying.

OK, good! Make lots of backups and you should always have a way out. I would read Roolers guide on SBFing as well, just in case.

i havent heard of bootloop on a theme before, thats new to me lol

I've bootlooped from a theme before. Then my batt died during the sbf (at 96% complete!). It was not a good day.

ive bootlooped fron tranquility after wiping data and cache still bootlooped
