Root Link2SD Question

Hey guys, a 2 week old smart phone noob here looking for a little info. I'm looking to use Link2SD to move some files around but want a little more info before doing so. Before downloading it I read about having to set up a 2nd partition on my sd card, but haven't done so yet. After downloading and opening Link2SD I saw the option to just simply "move to sd card" as well as the "create link" option to the 2nd partition. So my question is what is the purpose/benefit of creating and linking to a second partition if I can simply move apps to the sd card without doing so? Is creating and linking to a 2nd partition necessary for everything to work correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

The benefit is it saved me about 75mb of memory. I have 60 apps most linked or moved to sd and still have about 100mb of internal storage.

But do I have to have it linked to a 2nd partition to get the same benefits? If so then what's the point of just simply moving things to the sd card. Why even have that as an option? I know I could just partition my sd card and be done with it, but I'm curious and honestly want to know exactly what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. I just got my phone, wanna have it at least a month before I screw it up lol.

Lol when I first got mine and downloaded like ten apps I only had 25mb of internal storage. I erased all of metros shitty apps then partitioned my sd and now have like 60 with 100mb still left open that is why I did it.

The real benefit is that linking to SD makes the whole app move, leaving only a tiny simbolic link (no libraries or data are stored on the phone, just a redirect code that tells the phone to read the app and associated data from the SD card).
This makes it possible to save more space but more importantly it lets you move apps that would otherwise force close (fc) if moved with native apps2sd or force moved in the native way with the link2sd app.

Oh I see. Thanks for the info guys. I was prob gonna go ahead and do it anyway since everybody was in unison in saying it was important. I was just curious as to why. :)
