I signed up with this forum to ask a question about an aggravating problem. Before I got the chance I figured out what the problem was. Figured I'd post my solution in case anyone else has issues.
I recently added the Linked In account to my Android's 'Accounts and sync' Settings menu. Afterwards, whenever I called a contact with a merged Linked In account, my phone came back with "com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (Force Close)" After force closing I have no signal, just a circle with a line. This means that 'Flight mode' has been turned on in my 'Wireless and network' Settings menu. After removing my Linked In account I had no more problems.
Hope this helps someone. And I guess Samsung should know...
