Help Linking Facebook contacts with Phone contacts

I have a lot of my friends that didnt automatically get associated. How do I manually link an facebook contact with a phone contact? I use the Facebook for HTC sense app.

go into people and find your friend click on sync and then choose the facebook app and search then click sync :D

I see the answer has been posted, but thought it was a bit tricky to understand maybe, so I'll write another explanation to help some of the less tech talented ^^.

Basically, if you have a contact that didn't auto sync with facebook, you go to people, find your contact. In the top right of the contact card there is something that looks like a broken link/chain (a small button). Tap this, you will then get some options from where to search for a "link". If you have set up facebook, this options should be there. Tap it, and you should be able to browse your friends in facebook. Now find your friend, tap on the person, and tap done. This should then create the link between the facebook profile and the contact on your phone.
 
since updating my software all my contacts' photos linked w/ FB have disappeared. I tried re-linking with the above steps but it keeps telling me no contacts were found even though Facebook is running. ANy ideas?

Sounds like a server bug. Don't think there is much you can do but wait for a fix. But you do get the "facebook" contacts as a option to search in together with "all other contacts"?

However, you could try:
1) Disabling ALL syncs on the phone (Facebook, google, weather, everything!)
2) Go under: Home screen -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> Running tab -> scroll down to both "Facebook for HTC" and "People", and force stop both, then clear their data.
3) Go back to the home screen, reactivate your syncs and start up both Facebook and People. And hope it might have done something :rolleyes:
 
Thanks. Facebook does come up as an option to link but nothing happens. Will try your suggestion now. Here's another weird thing. I downloaded the Facebook for android app in the marketplace thinking it would be more convenient than going to the web every time I wanted to access it. I am now trying to delete that app to see if that is creating any problems but the option to Uninstall is not present when I go into Manage Apps.
I've also gone into the marketplace -> menu -> my apps to try to delete from there and it's NOT there. it's clearly on my phone as I can still access the app but I can find no way to delete.

You must be mistaken :p. Because all HTC phones comes with Facebook for HTC already preinstalled. And that is also why you can't uninstall it, because its a part of the "stock apps" :D.

But hope my tips help ;)
 
yeah I have the Facebook for HTC sense and then the Facebook for Android widget that I just downloaded from the marketplace. Tried the steps above but no luck syncing the contacts w/ FB. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Hmmm. Have you tried to uninstall the Facebook for Android? That might be interfering with the actual HTC Facebook and the contact syncing. "People" uses the Facebook for HTC to link the contacts, as this is an integrated function. But I'm not sure if it is an interferance. Personally I don't like facebook invading my phone, so I haven't set it up :p:rolleyes:.

Good luck getting it to work though. Hopefully there will be a fix solution soon ^^
