Root Linux and Mounting

Bob Cat

Careful, They're sharp!!
I have Linux Ubuntu 10.10. I teather with no problem (in fact I'm teathering right now) but when I try to mount as a usb to move files it's not recongized. Any suggestions?

Have you tried the USB option from inside recovery? I don't remember exactly what it's called (USB *something*) but it allows you to use your phone as a drive on your computer while in recovery.
Another thing to try, under menu > settings > applications > development try setting USB Debugging to whatever it's not set as now. (turn if off if on, turn it on if off).

Just guesses, but maybe one of them will work.

Normally for any OS you need to enable the usb drive mode, it should be a notification that you can click on a toggle this setting. Just make sure to unmount your drive through ubuntu before unplugging.

I got to revive my old thread. It's been a while and many rom's ago since I mounted the old eris to linux. Low and behold linux isn't recognizing the little guy. Suggestions anybody? Could it be a GSB thing?

I mounted mine to my Ubuntu 10.10 machine last week and it was recognized. I didn't do anything, I was just testing to see if it would work. You could check to see if there are any drivers you need to download (I might have done this at some point).

Tethering works fine but not as a drive. But that gives me an idea. I'll try my test phone.
