i flashed the LFY rom and got that running. do i need to download the kernel and flash the kernel as well? same thing for themes, download and flash?

I hear what your saying, but the ROM wasn't "really" changed. LFY was added to ROM Manager and the "change" to the ROM was just a text only change which was enough to make the MD5 checksums return different values when trying to verify the files :o

The people who have seen their temperature "problems" fixed...is a coincidence or perhaps a result of re-flashing the ROM.

im not sure about that either. i flashed the first rom with inaccurate check sums twice trying to fix my issues with heat and inaccurate battery temp readings with the same end results, phone staying at 50 deg c with light use and improper battery temp readings. then i flashed the correct version (as did others) and immediately i could tell my phone was cooler. tocay i noticed improved battery life vs my results yesteday. off charge for ten hours, a couple phone calls and 12 text messages, six hours of pandora over wifi and im sitting pretty on 60 percent. yesterday my phone died before making it home with no phone calls!

I am also using LauncherPro, and getting horrible lags

I may go back to BB4

This ain't working too well right now. I will use ADW for a little bit see if it helps though

i had a lotta lag with launcherpro. i switched to adw and i am not seeing any lag now. funny adw works better on this rom for me but launcher pro works better than adw on most other roms.

On the first page ( liquid slayher kernals) u can get them
Issue isn't where they are, is which one to grab. There are two different versions on kernels, and I've been reading that some kernels break something and the others don't.

So I'm asking which ones I can grab.

I tried this as well, and my battery didn't like it. I keep it at minimum 300, max 1200 and it works just fine on interactive.

I've never had the issue and mine is set to 125mhz for the screen off.

I went into the build.prop file, edited the text for call delay
from 1000 to 500. It made a difference on my phone.

How are you guys setting your speeds at those 125 and 300 for minimum? Set CPU is only showing me the option for 250 at the low end and 400 the next lowest.

FWIW, I switched my scaling to interactive, and the phone is responding better. So far, none of the random lags. On 1.4, Interactive seemed to use more battery than On Demand on my phone for some reason. Will see if there is a difference with 1.5.

And if you are reading this thread trying to decide whether to go with LFY or not, don't let the lag stuff stop you! It wasn't happening very often for me. Most of the time, this ROM is SWEET!

my bad. I'm not quite sure, but I assume the ones loaded on the 25th r the revised ones. Myself, I got the 1200 from before and haven't had problems, but that's just me. If you make a backup b before loading, if something goes wrong you can revert back.

Ive got the 1.5 1200 that is near the bottom, I didn't realize others had come out. I'm tempted to try the 1300 but I can't imagine that would be stable.

I was afraid of that. I really don't want to switch to ADW. Just like Launcher Pro better. Mostly because I like my dock in LP. Not a fan of the ADW dock.

I know one way to find out! LOL :D
Now I just have to get off work so I can try...hehe

the kernal you are using determines the speeds you can adjust your phone to by its set slots. slots are set speeds your phone can run at. your 250 is the lowest slot 400 is next. if you want to have a lower first slot you should download another kernal.

ok. I guess I just assumed they were getting those on Slayher's LFY kernels, but apparently not then?
I'm running the 1100 Slayher kernel for 1.5.

Well the test of the 1300 was a disaster. Crashed everything.

I read on droid forums that 1300 does not play well with FroYo, I think I will test the 1250 when I get off work, from reading on the CM forums it look like it was a compcache fix in the new kernels.

Try the 1000 slayher you won't be disappointed :)

Thanks Liquid for this. I think it brings up an interesting point. I took slayher's advice and I've been running through all the kernels throughout the day, and to be really honest, I literally can't tell the difference between a 1200 and the 1000, except that my battery lasts longer on 1000. I'm using SetCPU with min 250, max 1000000, on interactive and I'm not having any lag problems and no noticeable difference in performance. My question for the experts, then, is this: What is the relationship between Quadrant scores and "real world" performance? At what point is a 1200 kernel going to be noticeably better performing? It just seems that at the micro level (i.e. Quadrant scores) you can get higher numbers, but I just evidently don't push my phone hard enough to make it matter...so for me, it's the 1000 and I'm straight. Thanks slayher...

I just changed my build.prop to 3 :D, definitely had a positive effect. My phone rings almost right away. But the funny thing was that it was originally at 500 already . Not sure why.

I think I'm gonna change the wifi scan interval too. Hopefully it will save some battery.

How do you do this?

Using root explorer, go to system - hold build.prop and select "open in text editor". Scroll down to ring delay and shorten it. I set mine at 3 its working grest. Afterward, back out. It should automatically make a backup of your original build.prop as well.

Be careful in there and don't change anything else unless you know what you're doing.

Ok guys I want to clear up some confusion. I worked with LiQuID to get LFY and the such on Rom Manager. One thing that was missing from the LFY-1.5 was a single flag in the build.prop that allows Rom Manager to detect if there is an update available for your ROM.
I had him add that line to the build.prop, and with out thinking about the MD5s etc, I told him to go ahead and upload the new. That way we would be fully compatible with RM.
I will take the blame for that little snafu with the MD5 being wrong and the Different files/same names.

Also there are new kernels listed in the link to more kernels. Once again me hitting the ground running. I made several new kernels, with higher speeds, and to keep build time/modules consistent, I cleaned my build directory and started new, from the stock 800 up to the new 1300 and 1300HV. If you are running the older kernel, Great, if you downloaded a new kernel Great! Either way you will be fine, all the features are the same, and they are fully compatible with LFY.

I hope that everyone is running fast and smooth with the kernel/rom.

As for heat issues, this is the coolest kernel I have ever used, and others are reporting the same thing, many others. If you seem to be running hot, try reinstalling Temp Monitor, or reflashing the kernel.

Kernels can be very finicky. For instance I have never had luck with P3Droids kernels. They are great I am sure but MY phone hated them. JDLFGs were a 50-50 chance, and bekits were always great. I have heard others report the opposite. Sometimes you just have to find the "right"one for you and thats great when you do. I will tell you at the moment, I am pretty sure my kernel is the only one to run the interactive governor, although others may be coming.

As for the kernel speed/settings/other stuff:
You need SETCPU,
I suggest the interactive governor with the max slider @max and the min slider @min.

If you are experiencing call delay, try uping the min slider in Setcpu. Some phones have issues coming out of sleep at low speeds.

If you feel battery drain is an issue with interactive, I have all the other governors built in, feel free to change, but you will notice a performance difference (if you are like me anyway)

Lastly, thank you everyone for the great response to the rom! Keep on flashing, and I will try to poke my head in as often as I can. ( I have a wife and 5 kids)
You can hit me up on twitter (@layherdaddy) or here, and I wll try to get to you.

Thank you for the support and the feedback!
