Liquidsense 2.1 help!!!! Flash problems

I'm a noob with the rooting on my Hero(successfully rooted) and I'm a fan of the Sense UI, so I decided to go with Liquidsense 2.1 based on all the threads I read. I CANNOT get Liquidsense to work.

This is my sequence after rooting and flashing ClockworkRecovery:
- nandroid
- wipe cache, data
- flash rom
- reboot

Once it reboots it looks like it works b/c I see a different lock screen than I usually have, but when I slide that down to start the phone login there is an error message about htc rosie something has crashed. I then click through the prompts to log into google and after that it says something about htc phone something has crashed and the prompts shut down.

The home screen is just black, but I can see the notification bar at the top, but that's it. Can't do anything else, but reboot and recover to my nandriod backup.

Any ideas? Am I missing something that Liquidsense needs before I flash it?

If it helps nothing has been done with the SD card and I am flashing it from the root of my sd card.

Any help will be appreciated!

Check your download again to make sure it did not get corrupted, and flash again,, and what recovery are you using??report back

I'm not sure if the download is corrupt or not. I downloaded it from the xDA links on the Liquidsense 2.1 page ([ROM] LiquidSense 2.1 Stable|PngOpt|ZipAlgn|Odex|No Bloat - xda-developers). I wondered if that was it so I downloaded it from both of the links. I've actually flashed it a couple of times with the same problems.

I am using ROM Manager with ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1

This is my phone software info:
Firmware - 2.1-update1
Baseband - 2.42.02.10.29
Kernel - 2.6.29-ba77cf03
Build# - 2.32.651.2 CL282911 release-keys
Software# - 2.32.651.2

I was beginning to wonder if my root was screwed up so I flashed the CM6 Rom and that worked without any issues. So I don't know why Liquidsense is not working.

Do I need Apps to SD before I flash it?

Liquid worked for me flawlessly.
As Don said try to re-download the ROM
boot into recovery
Wipe user data
wipe cache partition
go to advanced at the bottom and wipe Dalvik cache
then load Liquid
reboot

Maybe not wiping the Dalvik cache buggered something up?
What do you think Don?

Are you flashing from CWM, or are you flashing directly from recovery, meaning with out using the actual CWM app ?

I'm flashing the CWM and then selecting Reboot to Recovery under that. Should I be using the "install ROM" feature instead?

B/c it's bugging me I tried to flash the AOSP ROM w/Gapps and when it rebooted it just stayed on the HTC screen. So I recovered.

I rooted with z4root btw.

How do you boot into recovery ;)

If you are Rooted - and have downloaded ROM Manager and have Flahsed Clockwork Recovery.... you would turn your phone off - then hold volume down and power

Then hit home and you are in recovery.

turn the phone off, wait about 5-10 seconds.
Hold the volume down button then press and hold the power button, both at the same time for a couple of seconds.
white screen with a couple of options, press the home button.
You're in boot recovery. :)

I also rooted with z4root. Worked great. It was so easy a cave man could do it....guess thats why I was able to acomplish this. :)

ok and thanks but once in recovery how do i load the liquidsense onto phone, (my phone does not show up on my desktop) :)

is this correct gonna take it slow and specific
1. download liquidsense onto desktop & copy to phone
2. boot into recovery
3. wipe user data
4. wipe cache
5. wipe dalvik
6. load onto phone (do i leave recovery to load liquidsense onto phone)???
is it install zip from sd/card??????

:)

after you Wipe Davlik - hit the back button to install zip from SD card.
Click it....choise the Zip - LiquidSense - Click it....
Let it load - Click back Reboot phone.

when you wipe davlik to you see anything the shows that it was actually deleted? I don't see anything.

Btw, to boot into recovery you can just hold down the home button and turn the phone on and you're there.

Not everybody can boot into recovery like that, each phone is different, depends on the recovery image your using also

Ah. So any ideas why two of the three ROMs I'm trying to flash won't work? This is the exact process I use to load this stuff. Maybe I'm just skipping a big step that I don't think is necessary.

1. Turn my phone on rooted by z4root
2. Open ROM Manager
3. select Flash ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1
4. select Reboot into Recovery (from within ROM Manager)
5. phone boots into Recovery mode
6. scroll down to wipe data/factory reset and delete (see indication that it deleted)
7. scroll down to wipe cache and delete (see indication that it deleted)
8. scroll down to advanced and then wipe davlik (see no indication that anything deleted)
9. go back to previous menu and select Install from SD
10. Pick LiquidSense1.1_signed.zip (from root of SD)
11. Flash
12. Reboot
13. Looks like it works b/c I see lock screen
14. Slide Lock screen down and see error message "process com.htc rosieutility has stopped unexpectedly"
15. Go through prompts to setup Google, success
16. Skip the Facebook sync and get error message "process com.htc.setupwizard has stopped unexpectedly"
17. Force Close and black screen.
18. shut the phone down and recover to nandroid backup.

This same thing goes for when I do the AOSP (aospMod-v0.9.9.2-signed.zip and gapps-mdpi-20101213-signed.zip) except that when it reboots it just stays on the HTC startup screen. I have to pull the battery out for that one.

You don't see a nandriod backup in those steps b/c I already have a good backup that I revert to. So, do you absolutly HAVE to do a nandriod everytime to get this to work?

Davlik Cache - Like I said I have no indication that this even deleted anything. Should I see something?

USB Debugging - When I'm doing all of this do I need to be hooked up to my USB and in debug mode?

This is all driving me insane, so your help and suggestions so far have been appreciated!

I would download the LiquidSense rom directly to the phone, then it will be in the downloads folder of your sd card. Then boot into recovery, wipe everything data, cache and Dalvik cache. Then install from sd card, flash rom then reboot

do I need to move it the root of the SD after that?

No, if you download the rom directly to your phone, it will then be in your downloads folder on your sd card. After you wipe everything, go to 'install zip from sd card', LiquidSense zip will be your downloads folder. Press yes to flash it, then it will say 'installation complete', then reboot phone

fingers crossed...

So while I'm waiting for this to download...if this doesn't work does anyone think that maybe my z4root is just screwed up? I tried to "re-root" and it just stays on the "reboot" screen. I have to hit the back button and it seems to reboot, so I shut my phone down, and re-rooted again and it seems fine. I have also tried the update of superuser and without the update. Still get all these problems. I'm just throwing this out there.

If you successfully flashed clockworkmod recovery, press reboot to recovery. If the applications asks to allow superuser permissions, then you are rooted. Then you should jump to the recovery screen
