Use the method from post #32 on this thread http://androidforums.com/amazon-kindle-fire/445375-sideloading-gapps.html
, I think we should have a list of apps that install correctly and the ones that don't.

Installs properly / Works Properly:

Skyfire
Pandora
Dolphin

Install properly / WONT Validate:

Slingbox - Must be a Android Tablet license or separate license?

Does not install properly:

Sirius / XM
Swiftkey - Keyboard Input method is not allowed to be changed

Okay; here are a couple I tried (didn't yours come loaded with Pandora? Mine did):

Installs and works properly:
Opera Mini Browser
Audiogalaxy

I could not get any version of YouTube to work on mine but I will look for that one.

I think I found it on 4shared. If not, try Filecrop.com (or just google it).

Here are a couple more apps I tried:

Wiki Encyclopedia (Wikipedia) - works, but I get an annoying short vertical stripe that flashes when I scroll

Music Junk - finds and downloads mp3s to your music folder

I've relied on Roboform for years to rem passwords. Us webmasters have thousands.

Installs great, works great.

Download at roboform.com

I tried fbreader and it didn't work, or I did something wrong. Install seemed to be okay, but would hang up when using it.

I'm looking for any epub ebook readers if anyone has tried them.

I was able to install Moon Reader+ and it seem to run okay, I just don't care much for how it works. :)

Now that I verified that that an external microphone works (ahem), it's time to start testing apps that require a mic. I tried Vlingo, a speech-to-text app, and keep getting "There's a problem with the network" message when I try it (I'm trying it in my house with a wifi connection).
Anyone want to try Google Voice or Skype?

I sideloaded Adobe Photoshop Express and it works, although the bar at the bottom of the Fire's screen almost blocks some controls. The one thing I needed to do was create several folders on my Fire (or the program will think you have no photos on the device). If you have an Android smartphone, just look at the folder setup for photos and replicate it on the Fire.

It's nice to be able to work on photos with this size screen, rather than my smartphone.

Yeah i cant wait until we get some roms for this thing that will hopefully get rid of that bottom bar, or at least hide it!

I have successfully loaded the following apps by making a backup on my phone and then moving the apk file and installing on the Kindle Fire:

Fing - Network Tools;
Network Info;
QuickPic;
RealCalc;
Rev3Remote (Revision 3 app);
HBOGo

I was not able to load Tweetdeck. I think there is a problem with one of the permissions trying to check something that is not on the Kindle; probably related to phone state.

I sideloaded Google Music successfully with a little extra work.
Dropbox can be installed right from the Dropbox site.
Dolphin HD seems to work well on the Fire.
Pioneer's icontrol app installs fine, but functions poorly.
Gmote installed fine, but i'm having issues with the network connection.

Just to add some more apps successfully loaded on my KF by the method mentioned in my post above:
ES File Explorer (this was actually one of the first loaded);
Ice Cream Sandwich Launcher (a different method used to load);
Dropwords;
Great Little War Game?? (GLWG);
WiFi Analyzer.

And some more apps loaded successfully but this time from GetJar.
GetJar app (need it to access and download the android apps from GetJar - go to m.getjar.com on your mobile browser to get the app);
Crack the Code;
Tapatalk;
Splashtop Remote;
PrinterShare;
Beautiful Widgets.

These were all free on Getjar and there are many, many more available.

What was the "extra work" to get Google Music to work on the fire? I sideloaded it and it runs but it doesn't let me connect to my Google accoun. Any advice?

I found the answer...

1. Install googleservicesframework.apk
2. Install google books
3. Install google music
4. Restart your Kindle
5. Open google books and link to your gmail account
6. Open google music
7. Select your previously linked gmail account
8. You should be good to go.

You can now remove google books if you want. It its only needed you link to your gmail account.

FYI I used "Easy Installer" from the Amazon Appstore which its free and worked great for me.

Add another app to my succesfull category. Hanging With Friends installed with no problems and works great.

And ... one that did not work - Vevo.
