Help Listening volume low

My wife's M8 has developed a problem. The volume adjustment for calls is at maximum, BUT it is difficult to hear callers when they call on her M8. If they call on a land line there is no problem, but the problem is reproducible on the M8. Any ideas as to the cause?

No idea - have you tried clearing cache from recovery?

EarlyMan- Thanx for the suggestion. I cleared the cache from recovery from may wife's M8, and she said that the sound is "BETTER", but still not as clear as a land line.

Run in safe mode, if the problem goes away, it's an app or app update.

Hold power for menu, long press power option to get restart in safe mode option.

Reboot again to leave safe mode.

enter safe mode and the problem on my phone still exists. Suppose I should change the phone.
