Root Little help here

Friend has a dX and he manually updated to 2.2 and we put root on it. Now he wanted rEvolution theme, we put it on and loaded up and now it's stuck on the M. We made a backup of the before, but it won't load it. Are we bricked? (NOTE) we didn't deodex...whoops. Can we still deodex? I go here to deodex it [HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone. - Droid X Releases - AllDroid Public Board - [HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone. - Droid X Releases - AllDroid Public Board - AllDroid.org > Home and the program gives me a "trojan horse' virus thing...umm..wtf.

ANY help would be great. He's kinda pissed...at me
 
yeah nathan i AM a little pissed... you just gave me a 520 dollar paper weight.... PLEASE someone help... i feel like stabbing him in the neck when he falls asleep....
 
I take it you updated the OTA 2.2, not the leak, correct?

Did you use bootstrap to make your backup? I think we will need a little more info to try and help. If you are on the OTA update, your options may be limited for now. It you updated to the leaked Froyo, you can flash the SBF.

I am sure some others will chime in when more details are known.
 
I would say you are not bricked. You might even try to reupdate to the OTA.zip again. Don't take my word for it as I have not tried this. Birdman will release his details soon I am sure. The OTA is still very new so there are many unknowns. You definately do not want to try SBF or flashing any OLD bootloader files. You need to stay with the new bootloader until Bridman releases a way to downgrade.
 
I think that this can be fixed although doing so may take some trial and error.

First off have you tried wiping data and cache?
 
Maybe try an update.zip again. You already have the new bootloader. The only danger is if you changed any files when rooted. As OMJ said, it is trial and error at this point.
 
Ok didnt think that would work but it was worth a shot. Before we go any further I am not sure any of this will work for sure and you might get a to point in which you cant get into clockwork anymore which I would then consider you bricked until an sbf comes out. This is a bit of uncharted waters.

Anyways the next thing I would try is an advanced nandroid restore but only restore /system
 
Im trying to understand what is wrong with the backup. Can he not get into koush's recovery or is there a problem with the nandroid itself?
 
can you give me a link to the exact theme that was flashed? I wanna see what all was there.
