Help Living in between 2G and 3G

Hi,

at home I have quite bad connectivity with 3G so it usually is two bars at max and sometimes drops to 2G where it is full. Does this have an influence on my call quality or do calls use the 2G networks anyways? I.e. am I better of when I manually switch to 2G before I start a call?

Thanks?

I've similar problems, 3g is terrible at home so my battery suffers and I often don't get calls.

I've a tasker profile set up so that when I'm connected to my flats wireless network, my phone will only use 2g.

I would only switch when making calls in case it switches mid call and drops.

Battery life on the other hand....you must be suffering :( I've seen batteries get drained within 4-6hrs of being in an area with bad reception

At the risk of going off topic, can you post your settings for your Tasker setup. I've tried to create this, but 2g/ 3g is shown red in my Tasker and says unavailable on this device.

I'm on a custom ROM, it might not be an available option on the stock ROM.

I get that message on ROMs where it doesn't allow direct changing of 2G/3G too.

Want me to post it up anyway, so you can give it a go?

I had the same idea with Llama but as far as I know stock Android won't let apps switch between 2G and 3G
