Help Loading music on Galaxy Note 2

Having problems loading mp3 music from windows xp media player onto the note 2. Computer will not recognize the phone. Keeps the notice on to plug in a device. Should be a simple usb cable transfer- any thoughts? Also, my weather on the home screen is frozen, I can not get it to refresh or reset. I am living at 1:24 am and 65 degrees for three days now.......

The USB connection issue is most likely a dodgy USB cable - try again with a new cable.

The second issue sounds like the weather app is not sync'ing automatically anymore. That could either be that you have turned off Android sync (highly recommended) or turned off sync within the weather app.
