my eris is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....i've got task killer pro and use it often...texting just one person takes forever..to the point where i'd much rather hook up to pdanet and text from my computer....when i try to load it up..it takes a minute to load up...try to type..it takes a minute to fully load so i can start typing..which normally ends up in all caps or symbols and i have to erase and type it all over again..cause it finally caught up...then sending it..it has loading...that takes forever..then for it to finally pop up on the screen takes another long time...

my eris normally runs with 64 memory when i do task killer..thats about the average...this is like my storm all over again..without the battery pulls..can anyone help me????

I would suggest getting rid of the task killer and then pull the battery and re-boot. That should fix your problems. Try it, if it does not help call Verizon for a replacement. When mine locks up a battery pull fixes the problem.

Some basic maintenance can help a lot with a slow Eris.

Go into messaging and delete old messages. Delete old emails. Clear the browser cache. Clear application caches by going into menu > applications > manage applications > menu > sort by size, then start at the top and touch each app and then "clear cache." Go down the list, being careful to not touch "clear data."

Get rid of any task killers you might have; most of them kill tasks by polling each one constantly, draining resources.

Live battery pulls should seldom be needed, certainly not daily.

There is more than one opinion about task killers; I am on the side of of the issue that says, basically, it is not only not necessary to have one, it could also be counter productive as a resource drainer when it is supposed to help with that.

You'll likely hear plenty of arguments on each side of it if you ask about task killers specifically.

Yeah, definitely tell that Task Killer to GTFO. If you want advice about Eris maintenance, you could do worse than listening to Frisco. A lot worse.

i thought the stupid thing was helping my eris..not making it worse...

They basically tax the resources of the device to an amount beyond the benefits the device receives by having caches cleared regularly; the user, that's you, should just do the sensible thing and one day per week go in and clear caches and messages, etc.

I do it every Sunday just prior to shutting the device down.
