Help Location Problem again!!!

I'm thinking about giving VZW the ultimatum. I had problems with my Incredible since the first day I got it. Long story short, I got a new number from VZW and it corrected my location problem on my Thunderbolt after I upgraded from my Incredible, plus my GPS started working. Also I live in a non Verizon area. Thunderbolt was working great after the latest update. Well, these pass 2 weeks, my location is showing me 3 hours away from my current position, plus my GPS is not working again. WTF is going on? Does anyone know if your number can get corrupt or a virus on it? I'm starting to think someone sent me a text that my phone didnt like so i deleted it. Yesterday i installed the AVG app. I know if I call Verizon again, they'll say its either a Google issue or my phone is broke. Well, the phone is not broke, it works great in a Verizon area. Kind of tired pouring my money to Verizon for 3 smartphones and 1 dumb(lol) one.

It sounds like your phone is trying to locate you by wireless networks not GPS. The area it says you are in, is it in verizon coverage? Try going to location and security in settings to make sure you have GPS turned on, sometimes the most simple solution is correct.

If that doesn't work then try this app https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&feature=search_result

Run it and try resetting agps data, see if that helps.

If the link doesn't work then search the market for "GPS status & toolbox"

Yeahha,

I appreciate the ideas. Trust me, i have tried all of them with the Incredible and now the Thunderbolt. When i bought my TB and drove back home, the problem happened just like my Inc. So, I tried an experiment. I activated my Inc under my wife's number, and guess what? The Inc location services works flawlessly. When i figured out the problem back then and received a new number from VZW my TB location services were top notch. I called Verizon's CS and told them what happened and asked them to document the findings.

I dont have a solution for you, but can assure you that you aren't alone. I have had trouble with my location on every Verizon phone i I have had. My wife, who shares the contract, has no issues even when we had the same phones. Verizon can't provide me a solution.....been going on for years.

Sounds like this is a network issue and NOT a phone issue. If you have access to wifi, try to have it determine your location with that. If youre not in a VZW area, chances are its going to look for the closest area TO you if that makes sense.

The Wifi connection exactly tells me where my location is. I like to know what VZW looks at or what they can see on my phone number through there computer systems?:D

And about every app works off of location...One would think they would try to fix these problems.

What did you think the FFC was for? lol. So, that fixed your issue?

When at home, my location is right, its when i go back on 3G is when the problem starts

Well, until VZW has service coverage, thats about as good as its gunna get for you man. Crappy, but true sadly. I hope you dont get charged for roaming.:eek:

You know, the TB location has worked after i changed my number on release day. The phone worked everywhere in my non VZ area. Just the pass 2 weeks started to have problems. I dealt with my INC for a whole year with location problems, talking to CS until i was blue in the face, replacement after replacement. I won't give up my original TB for a certified like junk replacement unless they hand over an upgrade. I'll call them tomorrow and see what happens. I hope they have the documentation of my problems last time and what fixed it. Maybe, just maybe they will have an advanced techie look into it then a tier 1 or 2 CS.

I wouldn't hold my breath, they might offer to swap out the SIM to see if that would help, that would be about the equilivent of deactivating the phone then reactivating it, sounds like that could fix your problem for at least a few months hopefully.
