Hello there, I have a Location error going on for the past few months on my phone and just in past few weeks it has been getting out of control and i cant do anything on my phone now.

The problem is that for some reason my phone keeps prompting me to download an update for my location app, and even when i do this it just keeps opening up the locations app for no reason.

Now i have try reseting the phone to factory standards multiple times but it has nothing to resolve the issue.

please i need help on this issue asap because it is interfering with my work and need it fixed.

any questions please just ask.

try updating roaming by calling *228 or *288 i forget on verizon. i am not sure about others.

Which location app is this? And can you tell us something about your phone: GSM or CDMA, software version, network branding if any, whether you've made any modifications (e.g. rooting)?

My phone is a HTC desire HD, the app is location. its comes with the phone when your reboot it etc it tells you to turn it on or off, and i have tried having it on and off but it still comes up prompting me to either download, install or just will open it up.

Maybe the HTC dock mode which starts Location (Navigation) ?

In a dock, a resistance bridge between the microUSB plug's pins 4&5 triggers the dock mode and starts the HTC Location/Navigation app.

So you might look at your phone's microUSB socket for dirt.
Dirt can act like an electrically resistance.
So it would simulate a dock.

But if you didn't find an issue at your phone's microUSB socket you might install the app 'Dock No-Op', free in Market :)

Hi chickem, you're welcome :)

But note, the reason for the phone to go in dock mode, and starting the Location app, is because the phone was triggered by a kind of coding of its micoUSB socket.
'Dock No-Op' suppresses generally that going in dock mode.

I hope, you've not a destop dock, because this app suppresses all kind of docks ;)
