Help Lock Screen Glitch

Hey guys I'm new here and recently purchased an htc rezound. Its a great phone, but every so often when I try to use the pattern unlock the pattern will stop mid-draw (if that makes any sense). Is anyone else having this problem?

Oh and some food for thought- I dropped my rezound from about waist high yesterday on some tile and not even a scratch! I was pretty happy, but looking for a good case anyways :p

Good idea about getting a case. Always a smart move. Unfortunately I can't help you with the pattern unlock since I find the normal lock screen annoying enough I am not about to enable something else..lol. Hopefully someone will have some advise for you soon.

I'm not going to be much help either except to say I had the same problem on my rooted DInc. It made it hard to unlock the phone!

My Rezound has been getting progressively worse in this respect. It's a very strange thing that used to rarely happen, but now happens about every other time I try to unlock.

It seems like the phone has lost track of real time, and is behaving as though time is moving much faster. I say this, as the behavior I observe is:

As I draw the unlock pattern on the dots, after the first two dots it stops to tell me that I've drawn the pattern incorrectly (even though I'm still drawing), then it picks up two more dots from later in the pattern to tell me I've done it wrong again, then moments later it shuts off the screen. It should normally take it about 30 seconds for the timeout to shut off the screen, but here it's done in about 6. It seems like it thinks time is moving about 5x as fast as it really is, and it is timing-out the unlock trace as well as the screen lock waaaay too fast.

Used to be, if I hit the power button again to turn on the screen, it would work fine the second time. However, over this last weekend, I have noticed that it gets stuck in this mode until you hit the, "You've drawn your pattern incorrectly 10 times. Please wait 30 seconds," error. Then, I can unlock after 30 seconds.

What I have done as of yesterday is to switch to a PIN (numerical) lock rather than using the dots. So far, I have not experienced any problem with that.

Your screen is being unresponsive. It has nothing to do with time, the timeout on the lockscreen is much faster than the normal timeout. Your screen is not registering the touch long enough to make it through the lock pattern. Let me guess it only does it when its plugged in right? That's what mine did. Anyway mine stopped doing it when I started using the charger that came with the phone i think, but this was also about the time i rooted so it could have been the factory reset, if you are using the correct charger back up your data and try a factory reset.

My Rezound exhibits this problem regardless of whether it is plugged in or not. I've had it happen many times in all the following situations:

  • Not plugged in
  • Plugged in to the HTC charger that came with it
  • Plugged in to the Verizon-branded car charger
  • Plugged in to the Motorola charge that came with my OG Droid
  • Charging off USB
That's all the chargers I have. I have not found any situation where it is detectably more or less likely to not work correctly, though I have not gathered any statistics on it. Absolutely, positively it does not need to be plugged in for this to happen.

Oh well I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly what fixed mine, one day i was just like "hey it hasn't done that thing in awhile" and it hasn't done it since, but I don't know exactly when it stopped. I would suggest a factory reset.

One of the frustrating aspects of this phone is the fact that the lock screen is so complex. I tried the pattern lock when i first got it but it became tedious to roll the circle and then unlock the phone. It got on my nerves to the point where im just letting the phone go. If someone takes it then i guess they just got a new phone. haha. but seriously, just dont let your phone out of your pocket and dont bother with the lockscreen. But i may just be lazy. :D

I just do a simple pattern than i can do with one thumb, no more difficult than the regular ring unlock screen
