Help Lock screen missing, any button wakes phone. No idea why.

About three weeks ago, the PowerAmp lock screen widget began mysteriously to unlock to the Blur lock screen. Before then, touching its unlock icon had taken me directly to the home screen. I confirmed that Direct Unlock was enabled by unchecking and rechecking it in the PowerAmp settings.

Since then, the lock screen almost never shows up at all. Also, any hardware key will usually wake the phone, directly to the home screen.

I can temporarily enable the lock screen through Menu, Location & Security, Set Up Lock Screen by setting up a pin, then returning and selecting None. This lasts a few minutes to an hour or so, then the lock screen fails to work again. BTW, setting up a pin for lock screen security does not enable the pin unlock.

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling PowerAmp, to no avail.

I an aware of no relevant, recent changes beyond those described above.

Anybody have an idea what is causing this?

Thank you,

Matt

Have you installed anything else that might have lockscreen features included?

I've had Menu Unlock running since I bought the phone in January. That app functioned perfectly until about the same time these other symptoms began. It is less reliable - I have to launch the ui every few days to enable it now. Before that, the only time I had to launch it was right after I rooted it in Jan, and right after I SBFd to .596 three months ago.

Before and after rooting and SBFing, everything about the phone was reliable and functional, except the GPS took a long, long time to lock on sometimes.

One more thing - earlier today, when playing PowerAmp over Bluetooth with the screen off, the music stuttered and the LED blinked red once. No obvious sign of what that was for and that has never happened before. The battery was at almost ninety percent.

Thanks,

Well, if Menu Unlock is less reliable, try going without it and see if the behavior changes

I uninstalled it earlier this week for a while, to no effect. I'll take it off again and see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion.

If you're already tried it, I wouldn't hold my breath. Do you recall your music player being updated around that time, or did you install anything new?

Nothing I can think of. Also, even though I uninstalled Menu Unlock last night, it is still working. Strange.

As a last resort, you always have the option of doing a factory reset to wipe everything off the device and start fresh, reloading what you want

Yes, as you say, a last resort. The lock screen is working since last night. Maybe it's fixed. Thank you for the advice. It just has to last long enough for a better phone to become available.
