Do these lock screen replacements play nice with Handcent and it's message pop-up?

WidgetLocker does. I talked to the dev about the pop up issue and now WidgetLocker has options on how you want it to behave for text popups. It works great!!

I have Handcent set so that the SMS quick reply pop-up appears over the GOTO lockscreen. I type my reply and after sending it the lockscreen is back up.

No problem at all. Works great.

My messages won't pop up over Goto. They pop up over the default lock screen just fine, but with Goto, the phone just vibrates and I have to wake it up and unlock it.

The great thing with WidgetLocker is you have the option. If you want it over the lockscreen you can do that, or if you want to have to unlock the phone to read your SMS you have that option also. I like it being my choice. Personally I like to unlock my phone before I can see the message

I'm curious to know, am I the only one that seems to have these lock screens working on top of the default lock screen. IE swipe to unlock one only to have the factory one running below this. Ive tried everything to make them work. Nice as GOTO is I still seem to have the problem. Also all my buttons work regardless of the screen state.
This happens with all of the lock screen alternatives.
Truly am I the only one that suffers this?

I've recently downloaded an app that i really enjoy, adw.launcher . also unlike goto and the others it's free :). it has all the functionality i need, and a alot of customization. haven't found any bugs with it so far in my experience on htc hero sprint.

In settings under location and security disable the lockscreen, that should solve the problem of having 2 lock screens running. Then use WidgetLocker, there are options for how you want the buttons to behave or not work when the screen is locked.

It's pretty common for many of those downloaded lock apps to be easily bypassed by pressing the menu or home buttons, on my Quench I installed advanced locker and it worked for a while but then I was able to bypass the lock screen with the menu button. Kind of disappointing because I would like to be able to swipe the screen, not press a physical button.

Just get WidgetLocker => problem solved, you can disable all the buttons from working or choose the ones you want to be able to work.

I tried WidgetLocker on my Captivate. Although I love the options and the unlocker types, I'm finding it lags a lot compared to the phone's unlocker. Maybe that's the phones fault, I don't know.

And, at least 1 out of 4 times when I wake the phone up, it just went straight to the phone's locker instead of WidgetLocker anyway.

I'll try it again at a latter date and hope it improves for me.

I used it on my Droid and now my Droid X, there was occasionally a little lag but nothing too bad. The developer is constantly updating to improve the app and really listens to suggestions. One of the best developers I have dealt with and one of my top 5 favorite apps!

Actually I redownloaded advanced lock since I saw it was updated yesterday and it seems to run better now. Widgetlocker works for 2.1 or higher, and my phone still runs 1.5 but will get 2.1 soon.

Using GOTO you can add your name to the lockscreen, so I guess you could just type your "if found" message there and it would show up on the lock screen.

You can hide it too so that it only shows up if someone presses the 'i' icon...

The text appears on the top bar in the middle of the padlock and the battery status.

Funny I was just reading this post for the first time but that's exactly what I did. I have goto and the pattern lock enabled. I figured if I lost the phone and someone wanted to be honest they wouldn't have a way to find out any numbers. So I have if found and my home phone number in there.

You guys still haven't worked out all of the bugs with this project yet!

No, I'll admit GOTO is not perfect yet and likely will never be. Heck, there are open bugs in Android and we run on top so that's just the nature of software.

That being said, I'm not making excuses and we are listening to the community and continuing to improve it.

Yes, we "finished" GOTO 6 months ago and are still working on it for our customers, not a bad deal considering it's the price of a cheeseburger. :)
