lock screen screen without power button

I am looking for an app to go directly to the swipe lock screen without power off so I can switch users without cycling the power button on my tablet. The power button is offset toward the back and annoying to use as well.
Also, do not want to use a proximity sensor app because it drains battery and uses hardware unnecessarily.
If this is something that is already built into android and I haven't found a shortcut, I apologize in advance.

You mean like a home screen widget? Theres ones that will turn the screen off but you'd still have to use power button to turn it back on.
I understand what you want and it would be handy. Let me know if you find something.
A "change account" type widget would be cool

Like a shortcut button to take you directly to the swipe/lock screen without powering on and off at all. That way I can just switch users without cycling my hardware. Would also be useful to people who have upgraded lock screens with short cuts, so they can get to their shortcuts without cycling their phone buttons

Yeah it would be cool. Need a dev to tell us how possible it is but theres apps to turn the screen off and turn it on with prox' or motion sensor so it should be possible to make a widget that quickly turns the screen off then on to take you to the lockscreen

In Jelly Bean or later (and possibly earlier - I'm not sure when this was introduced), when you swipe down on the upper right of the screen you'll see the various shortcuts for Brightness, Settings, Wifi, Bluetooth, etc, with your name and profile picture on the upper left of this 3x3 grid. Just tap on your profile square and you be brought to the lock screen where you can switch users.

The "quick settings" tiles? When it tap my pic there on my tab it just shows me my g+ profile info mate.
Im not on pure stock android though so maybe thats the problem. Ill have a look in the settings and see if theres another tile i can add to do that

Oh nice, very nice. Ty uncle mike. The square on my profile pic brings me to the lock screen where I can switch users. I need to investigate to see if I can shortcut this to my android desktop. Might be an app if no shortcut.

I noticed that on my nexus 5 phone with KitKat, where I do not have multiple users already set up, the profile square dies not take me to the swipe screen. Also, KitKat does not have users in settings to enable multiple users as does my jellybean tablet. This is getting off topic from my original posted question but perhaps this is a tablet feature and not for phones or maybe KitKat forgot it?
