lock screen sound

I have a pattern lock on but I would like to be able to silence my phone real quick like I could without the pattern lock. Is there a setting I am missing or something to act as a work around

Silence when and for what? For incoming calls, I just hit the volume rocker and it stops ringing without hanging up.

Well I really liked the slider on the right that when dragged across would silence the phone. however that was only if you didn't have a pattern lock on. I was wondering if there is any way to get that back on the lock screen without disabling the pattern lock

I always have patterned lock on. Rocker switch works for me.
