Root Locked HTC Desire HD Update and Recovery Failure

Hi All,
I tried installing normal update on my Orange locked desire HD, which failed and phone could never recovered. Any feedback will be much appreciated.
After that I have UNLOCKED bootloader and refreshed ROM from htcdev.com, which updated version from 2.50.61.3 to 2.52.0.0. Every time I restart, it stops at red triangle with exclamation sign i.e. recovery. Given below is updated info. I’m not sure if I can S-Off/ root my phone as I don’t remember enabling USB debugging etc.
I have spent a day but could not find the answer. Although, other members had similar issue

I tried running following ruu but it gives Error message 155
RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed (1).exe

If I relock then sending progress bar never finishes.

ok,here is the ruu you can use after flashing the main version low zip file:

this is a .exe file. just run the utility on your pc(as admin of possible) and put the phone manually into fastboot mode. follow along and plug it in when directed :)
Shipped ROMs

this version is a zip file. you can rename it to "PD98IMG" and place it on to the root of your FAT32 formatted sd card.

the .exe files can be finicky so just use the zip file if you have a prollem getting the .exe to run

ill be at work for another 10 hours or so(:eek:) but ill try and watch if you have questions.

Thanks very much Scotty- you are a super start and proud of this forum. My mobile is working fine now.
Do recommend trying any available update from System Software update? That is what failed last time resulting in red triangle with exclamation.
Do you recommend a poplar custom ROM for this mobile? Will I have to S-Off and then Root the mobile to install? Would be helpful if you can share some link.
A big thanks again for your help and keeping the forum alive and useful.

i would perform a factory reset from the hboot menu,and at that point it is prolly safe to accept OTAs again. wether or not you should avoid them is a tough question. typically they are perfectly safe,but there did seem to be quite a few folks who had similar issue with the newest DHD updates on a couple different builds.

i prolly would recomend to root and get s off,as in that situation mishaps like you just experienced are easier to recover from,you could have simply run any ruu,and not had to mess with the zip file or the older carrier ruu.

if youd like to try a more modern operating system on your phone,there are several good jellybean and ics roms available(and prolly kitkat before too long!)

you do not need to be s off to flash roms,but it does make the process considerably easier,plus easier to recover from other things,as i mentioned above. s off is,in my opinion,worth the time and effort to achieve :)
