Lockscreen Widgets Columns?

I'm running stock android 4.2.1 on a sprint galaxy nexus and occasionally I will see the lockscreen widgets in columns. The unlock is on the right half of the screen and the other widgets are on the left half. Swiping the left half sort of rotates the column and I can see all of the different widgets. I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this and when/how does it come about?

thats a new one to me.

the only issue i have seen with the lockscreen is sometimes the music widget (not just for play music, but for tune in, pandora ect) kinda bugs out some times and kills the application and stops my music.
