Lollipop Coming?

New York City. I didn't get the notification, but I just checked for an update. Started downloading the 500+MB update. Let's hope all goes smoothly so a FDR won't be necessary.

So far, so good. Haven't noticed any lag yet. The phone did get pretty warm during the update but from what others have been reporting, that seems to be normal.

It did take me a while to figure out how to get Smart Lock re-enabled so I could add my Pebble as a trusted device. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the permanent Google search bar, though. I do like the new notification pull down layout and the built-in flashlight. I went ahead and kept the Moto active display notifications and haven't tried out the Lollipop lockscreen notifications.

The update is available to be "pulled" by anybody now. Pulled means from setting / system updates / check for updates. It is not being pushed yet.

When it is pushed, it is never by geography, so there is no point in saying where you are.

(See G+ post from Motorola's David Schuster: https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/SLyAuakYmQE )

To all my DROID Turbo friends (or just acquaintances).... we have just extended the Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade soak and opened it up for pull. Hope you enjoy it.

UPDATE: What "opened for pull" means is if you go into Settings and select "System Updates", you will be prompted that there is a update.

Downloading 771mb OTA update now.
Update: lollipop seems smoother and didn't encrypt my phone. We'll see.
First full day on lollipop. 24 hours since full charge & update, 68% battery left. That's better than before on my daily use pattern. No problems at all so far. Pleased at this point.

Got the update today! I tapped "check for updates" for the umpteenth time this week, and an update was available. Download and installation took about 30 minutes. Call me silly, but the easily accessible flashlight might be my favorite new feature!

No issues after the upgrade. Just out of abundance of caution, I did wipe out the cache partition first.
