Help Lollipop Issues

Since I've updated to Lollipop programs like Messenger and texting, it keeps hanging and pausing. Is anyone else having this problem? What can I do to resolve this?

I also note that phone SEEMS to be slower responding since update to 5.01. I tried to clear cache partition to see if that helped, but it does not appear to have made a difference.
 
I am having major issues with the stock message app. I am unable to attach an image without the app crashing. The keyboard freezes after attaching a pic to a text. The back arrow button freezes. Home button works and saves the message as a draft but it is unusable. I have to go into the gallery, find photo, share, and add recipients. I am unable to just add the pic from within the text message thread.
