So, I have upgraded my GN3 to Lollipop.
On previous releases I found the "TouchWiz Home" launcher makes poor use of screen space with big gaps between things such that I could get no more on the screen of this large phone than on smaller ones so I installed Nova.
Nothing seems to have changed in that respect - I still can't find a way to configure the rows/columns etc. in the TouchWiz launcher but I have noticed there are a couple of S-Planner widgets that show up in the widget list available in TouchWiz Home that don't show up in the widget list within Nova. I am wondering now if Samsung have introduced some proprietary extension to the API between the widget and the launcher that means only TouchWiz can run those widgets. What do you reckon?
I also note that on previous releases the standard Google calendar widget was also available, though changed to make it launch S-Planner rather than the Google calendar app it was originally written for. That seems to have disappeared with the upgrade to Lollipop.
For now I have worked around this by installing the Google calendar app. That comes complete with a widget which of course launches the Google calendar app rather than S-Planner. As both the Google calendar app and S-Planner seem to use the same calendar data provider I'll see how I get on with that.
In the mean time any thoughts appreciated.
