Help Lollipop NOT Hiding "Sensitive Information" from Lock Screen

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 that I updated to Lollipop a couple of days ago.

When I first did the update I chose to globally enabled "hide sensitive data from lock screen".
This setting (unfortunately) did not work for me because it also blocked the controls from my music apps on the lock screen.

I have now gone back and globally set notifications to allow everything on the lock screen.
I then went in and individually enabled "hide sensitive data" on the apps that I do not want to show sensitive data on the lock screen, the problem is that they still show the sensitive data on the lock screen.

Text messages show the full text and Facebook shows all details (I use the stock Facebook app and also Google Messenger).

Is there any way to remedy this? I currently have the phone secured by means of fingerprint.

Thanks in advance.

I also just tried with PIN# and a password with no success.

Any? ideas

I'm confused by your statement above (bolded). ""Hide sensitive" is a global, not individual setting (see screenshot, below). What happens if you set "Hide sensitive notification content" in Settings > Sound & notification > When device is locked, and then set low-priority (i.e., slide switch "off") on individual apps in Settings > Sound & notification > App notifications?

It does show up as an individual setting if you set the global setting to show all notification content.

After set to show all content you go into the application notifications submenu and you can enable hide sensitive data on a per app basis, it just doesn't work which is my problem.

I'm having the exact same issue. I have my settings set to hide sensitive info and have selected certain apps as sensitive but they still show up on the lock screen.

Please let me know if you find a fix. I want music controls AND text notifications (without sensitive content) at the same time.

Are you also using an S5?

Yes I'm using a S5. Ive changed the settings to show all content while labeling certain apps as sensitive and they still appear on the lockscreen. I haven't been able to find a fix anywhere

Why don't you post this to Galaxy S5 forum again so that everyone can see it. It need more attention than this.

I've moved this thread to the Galaxy S5 subforum since that seems to be a common denominator here. Feel free to PM me or Report the thread if that turns out to not be the case. :thumbsupdroid:

BTW, Google's got a guide to using the new notification system in Lollipop. It sounds like you guys are following that and it's just straight not working though, right?

I am experiencing the exact same issue. If I set it to "hide sensitive content" literally every single app notification shows up as sensitive on the lock screen. If I set it to "show all" I am then able to mark individual apps as sensitive, but then even after marking my two messenger apps as sensitive they show the entire message on the lock screen.
Basically it seems like it will let me do all or nothing.

I have a similar problem. I upgraded to 5.0 last week on my SM-G900F on O2 UK, and now have version G900FXXU1BOB7. Previously on KitKat notifications such as texts would appear in shortened form on the lockscreen and would scroll briefly in the notification bar. Now I am getting nothing on the lock screen and nothing in the notification bar. When my phone beeps I cannot see at a glance whether it's a text, Gmail message, Facebook or whatever. I have to enter my PIN and come out of the lockscreen. This seems to me to be a step backwards.

I have also looked at the sound and notification setting and tried switching on "show all notification content". Then when I got a notification (which still didn't scroll or appear in the notification bar in the lock screen) I got literally EVERYTHING from my notification screen showing up on the lock screen, and I had to scroll down to see what had just come in. Logical really, considering I'd just switched all notifications on. But quite annoying and not really doing what I wanted it to, so I switched it all off again.

I've just seen the link from codesplice above and checked out the video too. I'm guessing this is for stock Android 5.0? Because on my TouchWiz version of Lollipop, on the app notifications setting I have NO option to select "block", "priority" or "sensitive". The only option is a check box to switch notifications for a given app on or off. That is all. So I am not able to set any notifications as sensitive and therefore not to be shown, and I cannot choose for certain notifications to appear at the top of the list.

I don't know, but am I missing something here, or is this whole thing on the S5 just broken?

Don't know about the UK version, but the USA Verizon version of Lollipop is certainly "broken" IMO.

Same problem here with Canadian version. Lollipop was released today on the S5 on Bell mobility.

Cannot hide content for selected apps. I just can hide everything, or show everything.... :( Even when changing the sensitive setting for a specific app like FB, email, messages, etc.

Has this been resolved yet? I tried this on an LG G2 today and it works perfectly.

Came home and retested on my wifes S5 and it's still useless.

I still have the problem on a Galaxy S5, on Bell Mobility. Tried it yesterday following some minor updates....

So, oPEEPINGTOMo, you are saying that on a LG G2, you can set the notifications to display the content on the lock screen, and then set some applications (EMail, Facebook, etc) as sensitive, and the content will be hidden?

Yes. . On the G2 I set the main setting to "show all" and then went to the specific app and set it to "hide sebsitive". In this case I did this for messenger. All other apps appropriately showed all information and messenger hid sensitive (as it should).

On my wife's S5 this will not work.. If I set it this way it ignores it and still shows everything.

Just signed up to say that I also have a Galaxy S5 and I am in the same boat. I'm with Telus. I really really don't want people able to see who is texting/messaging/emailing me.

My wifes phone got an update today and I got hopeful.. Unfortunately, still doesn't work correctly.

Is Samsung aware of this?? The granular notification control is one of the main features of lollipop and its broken right out of the gate.. Pretty sad honestly.
