So, I recently went to check for an update which was like 1 hour ago and it said I do not have enough storage for the update which was like 1,158 MB. So I went to go delete a few unused applications and it says no available storage. I have 4.7 GB now and it says I cannot install it because I need storage, WHAT IS UP!!

Also my carrier is AT&T but they said they released Lollipop for AT&T finally and I went to install and all that happened.

If you can help me it would be appreciated.

Already turned my phone all the way off.
I have Samsung Galaxy S5 Active
IT IS OUT FOR THE ACTIVE TOO SO WHAT THE HECK IS UP!

Hi, and welcome!

The culprit(s) are most likely cached files/data lurking in the /system partition; you could go through everything in Settings/Apps and do a "clear cache" for each, but my advice, based on a few years of Android updates, is to backup your device with Samsung Kies then perform a factory reset from the Settings menu. This will clear out all the accumulated crud and give you a nice fresh base to update from. Once the update has completed and the device reboots, skip all the account setup options to get it up and running, then do another reset. Now you can sign in to your Google/Samsung/whatever accounts and restore from the backup.

It's a bit more hassle, but imho well worth it when doing a major update e.g. Android 4.x.x to Android 5.x.x.

i would advise against the lollipop update, alot of s5 active users have reported problems with it. a quicker solution than what was posted ^ , would be to sideload it in the stock recovery menu and flash from there. cheers.
