Help Long Messages NEVER SEND

I can't imagine why, with today's advanced cell networks, they can't at least double the limit. Split the data like they do in internet protocol to manageable packet sizes and LET ME SEND MOAR THAN 160 AT&VERIZSPRIKET-MOBILE PCS! (Heh. That's a mashup of most of the major cell providers.)

I imagine I would too, as long as they are contractless, offer unlimited calls/text/data, and keep prices relatively cheap.

But I'd probably complain just as much as I do now, with Metro lol.

Everyone I know, even on LTE networks, have the 160 limit.

The limit for cdma phones is 160 on any service. But, successful people have gotten over the 160 limit for cdma. But it ends up in problems such as not being able to set up or receive calls, multiple SMS received and sent. Its a big problem, it uses a control channel. You'd have to trick the control channel. Which is the biggest nono ever lol. The control channel makes it 160 Max. If you were to somehow use a cdma phone to use a different channel then it could change. Its like in American letters its 160 but in Chinese its 70. Its really weird how the SMS works. But eh, I write like 5 words per text so its all good lol

Wow, didn't follow this thread after I replied. I am on LG's stock rom and use handcent. After 160 it continues to let me text and when I hit send it spits them up in 160 characters in each message. Only time my phone says "converting to mms message" is when I go over 3 full messages.

I wonder why it would be different from phone to phone. Maybe its rom to rom that the issue lies. Sorry if I gave false information and wasn't trying to be offensive at all. Just wrote what I experience on my phone.

I do believe CDMA phones do have a 160 limit for a single sms message, but using a 3rd party messaging app also allows you to easily and automatically split them according to the setting chosen.

I currently have the stock 2.2.1 ROM rooted with recovery, with rock's overclock kernel and adw launcher. Not sure if any of that makes a difference but again I was just stating what happens on my phone with the character limits and what not.
