Long Running Text Notification

Hello,

I am wondering why thered is no way to stop a notification (when a text msg is received)
Without having to go into the messaging app?
My phone will be sitting there, I get a text, and I try to just push the button on the side of the
Phone to silent the notification, but no, I have to get into my phone, do the on screen code,
And then go into the app! Btw, I'm using Handcent.

the problem is you are using ringtones/mp3 files not notification tones which is fine but ringtones/mp3s tend to be longer and will play through. notification tones are supposed to be quick alerts to let you know of incoming msgs not a song. Using a song is cool and it is a personal choice, but really its silly. what do want to do hear the whole song for every call or notification? If there is a line from a song or something like that you want to use try using an app like ringdroid to cut and crop the file you want to use.
