Root Look at how far we've come guys...

I'm serious. Remember when a root looked hopeless? Remember when we were lucky to get 4 and a half hours of battery life out of this godawful piece of crap? Remember when the xda guys wouldn't even sneeze on us (though minus a few exceptions, that one's still kind of true)? Remember when this phone was so ****ed up the SOURCE code wouldn't compile properly and it took an xda hacker to figure out why cause Samsung couldn't even figure out their own phone?

Well look at us now.

We have a nice little niche community here, that has learned how to do things some of us probably never thought we'd be able to do.

I mean think about it. The root, the CWM, the custom roms (I know, I know, only two so far, but still both are amazing), and an upcoming Kernel.

Show your appreciation folks. If you can't donate, thank the team. Thank the guy who donated his indulge. Thank Silvist for succeeding in bettering himself while having to learn how to develop on the fly at the start of what will be a wonderful development career. Thank K0anne for being generally awesome and the foundation of this all. Ciper for sharing his obsessive amount of knowledge. n3m3515 for being way better at looking things up on the internet than me. Also thank the rest of the team who I haven't quite met yet (especially the kernel guys, Good lord do we need that thing) and the dudes who will eventually port a CM for us (don't laugh, it's basically set in stone since there's no way we won't get bored with not having one).

Thank them all, they deserve it.

I'll start.

Thank you guys. Seriously thank you. Feel free to post any donation links in this thread.

And keep in mind, it might have been slow in coming, but if this kind of development can happen on this weirdo niche phone, it can happen on any weirdo niche phone...Now lets squeeze every last bit of juice out of this thing, so we can move on and bring hope to "another nightmare to develop for" metro phone that only we'll like (Tikal anyone?).

;)

True Yawa we have come a long way and we are not done. Fine at time i want to throw this phone into a grinder but when it works it makes me feel proud that i took the jump into metro. Lets hope both metro and Samsung don't ditch us. cheers

I just wanna thank you guys this truly is a godsend for us having some kinda hope for our phones and when someone ranks on us for having metro pcs we can say that's okay I have a better phone then yours with 4g speeds ,custom roms, and a kernal but my bill is 3x less then yours lol

Amen, Yawa!

Yeah guys, if you can afford it, send k0 or DRockstar some beer money... $10, $20, or even $5! Whatever you can afford. I mean, if you can buy a $300-400 phone, and pay $50 per month for service, I'm sure you can afford $5-20 for releasing the full potential of this phone. You can't even go to a movie and get popcorn for that kind of money. Remember, without these guys, we would be nowhere!

In fact, thinking back to the Bounty thread, I wonder how many people have made good on their pledges, now that everything requested (and more!) has been achieved!? I realize that some of those people may not be around anymore, so hopefully some other people reading this (you!) will make up for them.

Remember, at that time we had hit a wall. We could go no further without "real" dev support. Without that bounty thread, we may have never attracted the devs we have now, and none of these things would have happened! Now that k0 and others have held up their end of the bargain, it is our turn to hold up ours. Now would be a good time to send them a few dollars, to thank them for what they have done so far, as well as ensure future continued updates and development.

For my part, I am going to make good on my pledge for $50 from way back in the beginning of the bounty thread. I am going to PayPal right now and send it...

Since I just looked them up, I will post some people's donation links here for your convenience. These are the people I am donating to and why:

k0nane - Brought us full root, without which none of this is possible. Also of course his awesome custom ROM. It took him a little while to get around Samsuck's busted kernel and other barriers, but he stuck with it and now here we are! Donate here: donate to k0nane.

DRockstar - Ported ClockWorkMod, making it super simple to flash between ROMs, and also back up an image of your phone (which may save your arse one day, especially if you experiment with various ROM's and other things). Donate here: donate to DRockstar.

Remember, these are donations not fees. If you can't afford it, don't worry about it. But if you can, please send a few dollars. If a lot of people send a few dollars each, it will add up. How much better is your phone now from stock? What is that worth to you? The price of going out to one movie and some popcorn, or a nice dinner? I have spent a lot of time in the development IRC, and believe me, these guys have a lot of time into this. To say nothing of the amount of time they spend here answering questions and providing support. Please reward the dev's for their valuable time and skills!

I wanted to chime in say "Thank You" as well... I know both k0nane and I have spent tremendous amounts of time getting this all together, so the donation are very much appreciated indeed.

I'd like to thanks the guys mentioned for helping me get a grasp on how this phone does things so I can port CM7 to to it. It may not be a quick port, but it will happen, just them and me time. ;)

Thanks GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
