CM has already been ported to the GT540! Choose between CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.3 or CyanogenMod 6/Android 2.2.

@dudeman1996 he means the official CM support. these are unofficial releases from the cyanogenmod team.

There isn't a difference in the official CM ROM and a port, apart from 2/3 missing features.. Try it!

hmm, i tihnk that the difference would be that ,if the current developer of the port stops the project, we would still be getting updates as the CM team would include the GT540 in their release, so we won't get stuck at 2.3.
