I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, and was wanting to use tethering. Can someone please help me get my phone to tethering. Or direct me to the right place to do this. And what a good app for this. Thanks!

Mayhem, I just got my Samsung Galaxy S2. What are the steps I need to doto root. What do you need to know before I do this. I have Ntelos Service. Thanks

Not familiar with that service, but assume it's international. You might try looking in the S2 International forums.

Edit: Warning! Rooting your phone voids your warranty.

Read everything about rooting. Then read it again. And again. Then proceed slowly. You can permanently damage your phone if you do something wrong. Ask questions in the forums, don't guess.

If you're not in the US, is your default tether setting disabled? It's under more settings in wireless settings.

I DL'd Pdanet and I can use my laptop using a USB,and it's working great. but cannot get wireless to work for some reason.

For some reason Wireless Tether for Root Users suddenly stopped working for me yesterday. I didn't change anything on my phone. I tried rebooting, nope. I uninstalled it and pulled it down again from Play. Despite being a newer version than what I had, it still won't start. (It failed activating wifi interface)

So I re-installed Open Garden and it works. Go figure.

I'm wondering what VZW did to cause it to stop working and how they did it.

I use EasyTether (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mstream.easytether_polyclef)

It has worked well for me for several years, across several different phones. Granted $10 is pricey compared to most apps, but given my unlimited data plan, several years of free internet on my laptop is definitely worth it.

I prefer USB tether because I tend to use the internet for more than a few minutes at a time, and USB keeps my phone charged while it's in use. ;)

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I'm am very new at this and wanting to learn more. This save u money. But I think if the USB is working I'll just settle with it for now.
But I have another question, maybe?
If I use USB are there anything I have to watch as far as my phone billing. I mean this doesn't add to my billing does it. I have unlimited everything. Thanks Again! for all the help.
