Any recommendations?
How about none? Common sense works better than these "antivirus" apps.
You leave your front door unlocked too?

Actually, I would prefer that those recommending the "antivirus" applications show some data that demonstrates that these apps are actually able to detect and remove viruses from a phone. The lack of said data and the fact that viruses, while they do exist, are very rare on Android devices unless you are downloading every pirated application you can find. Until I see any proof that these work, I refuse to have a data hog running on my phone. Some people prefer it or don't know why they do or don't need it. Do you mind giving a more in depth response for the OP with why you feel common sense works better?
I'm sure teaching the OP why you feel it's unneeded would be helpful.
Excellent point and counter statement.
As noted, different people have very different feelings on the topic. Each have their own reasons and fortunately, neither side of the coin is "wrong."
All we can do is lay out all the evidence and let everyone pick for themselves. Let's keep this in mind in future responses.
Thanks guys
I think you deleted my counter statement.Excellent point and counter statement.

I was working on editing it.Reason enough! Here's to hoping that BOTH sides offer helpful input!!!
The deleted post had NOTHING to do with antivirus software... feel free to PM me to discuss further if you want.

Having the door locked won't matter much if you invite (aka install) malicious people into your house. Until someone can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that these programs are able to remove viruses, they are nothing more than a useless barrier that makes the phone's owner feel a little safer. You leave your front door unlocked too?
